I choose this university because I am familiar with it as I had completed my Diploma in Humber College that is opposite to the university building. So, I know the environment and pattern of the study. It is one of the best University in Canada that offers many opportunities for your career.

I am permanent resident of Canada so my fees less than any international student. My tuition fees is $4634.

Because of the amount of liberty we have in choosing courses in our program. I can choose to take very diverse courses which may or may not contribute to my major or minor. Also in the engineering sciences, there is an emphasis on design which was really intriguing to me.

Fees:

After scholarships and deductions, it comes to about 12,000 CAD per semester

I received a full ride to the school (scholarships based on grades), I liked the upper year course selection (ex. Cardiology course), the campus and city were close to home and familiar to me, and I liked the amount of research at the school. I applied to five schools with similar degrees (all biology) and had a 96% average in grade twelve.

Fees:

I received a grade based scholarship, which was based only on my final percentage in grade twelve (top six classes). It paid for my entire year. There are some international scholarships, but it's extremely crucial to fill out the supplementary application or you will NOT be considered for any scholarships!

I opted for this particular university because it had the program I wanted and throughout the tour I just felt like it was a place where I should go the school. Everything I was exposed to before I applied met my needs both through education and as a living means. It's easy to go out and do things but there are so many resources available to do really well in school.

Fees:

The fee structure is a little strange. Online courses and less expensive and depending on your residence you're paying for that as well. You could get government loans or grants. I am not sure of scholarships for international students. I do know that depending on the average that you maintain, you will get a certain amount split over two semesters in a year.

University of Guelph's ambassadors regularly visited our high school to offer more information and answer any questions we may have about any faculty. They provided several brochures which gave us plenty of insight into the campus life as well. I also attended an event known as "Ontario Universities' Fair" in Toronto where we were able to have conversations with a lot of current students at different universities before selecting which ones we wanted to apply to. I applied to about 4 universities and my top two I had trouble choosing between Guelph and Waterloo. I selected Guelph because it was a smaller school, I would be closer to home, and because I heard positive things about their science programs from upper-year students.

Fees:

The tuition for my program was around $4000. There are some compulsory fees for the university that came to about $800, however many of these no longer remain mandatory and students can choose to opt-out. The residence and meal plan came to about $6000 for me (single room, full meal plan). Entrance scholarships ($3000), OSAP ($7000 in grants + loans), and bursaries awarded based on my financial status ($2,500).

The campus was beautiful and easy to get around. Everyone on campus seemed so nice and welcoming. It also had professors who were well known in the industry I was looking to pursue. Giving me the opportunity to have them as references on my resume.

Fees:

I paid the regular university tuition with some classes asking us to bring in our own tools. So outside of regular tuition over the 4 year, I probably spend an extra $400.

Location, program, and prices where all that I needed. I wanted to get away from my family and be on my own to discover myself. Plus there are lots of employment options nearby with constant transit.

Fees:

The fee structure was about 50% loans and 50% grants. I was able to cover all my needs with the help of OSAP.

The University of Guelph offers scholarships to international students pursuing postgraduate programs based on academic achievements. However, international students with English as secondary language must submit a valid English Language Proficiency test certificate. Without submitting this certificate or fulfilling the English proficiency requirement, you will not be offered admission.
