Derozio Memorial College was established in the year 1996 by the combined efforts of the local inhabitants of Rajarhat and the Rajarhat-Gopalpur Municipality. DMC College offers undergraduate courses in all three streams of Arts, Commerce and Science and the admissions are done on the CBCS system. The courses offered include B.Sc, BA, and B.Com (both Hons and General). Applicants looking forward to getting an admission must have obtained 50% aggregate marks in the previous qualifying examination.

Derozio Memorial College Courses

The college offers a total of 14 honours courses in the UG programme and 3 general courses across the streams of Arts, Commerce & Science. The basic eligibility of admission in any of the UG courses is to have cleared the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examination during the period of 2015-18 only then the candidate is eligible for the six-semester course offered by the college in session 2019-2020. For candidates who have passed 10+2 during the year 2012-14, an approval is required by the WBSU for provisional admission.

The admission to UGC affiliated Derozio Memorial College is done through the university’s official website. The candidate needs to follow the below specified steps to enter into the college:

Derozio Memorial College Scholarships

The institute offers financial aid to the students coming from the weaker sections of the society and have trusts or schemes with the same agenda like Student Aid Fund. Kanyashree scholarship is one of a kind that is offered to the unmarried female students having a total family income of less than INR 1.2 LPA. Minority scholarship is provided to the students coming from the minorities. For the students from the SC/ ST groups a stipend is provided and for academically brilliant students there is Udaan Scholarship.

  • Central Library: The fully Koha (LMS) library of the institution holds a total of 15,800 physical printed books and a whooping 31,00,000 E-journals. The Library of the college has taken Institutional Membership of The National Digital Library, Govt. of India and The American Library, Kolkata. A separate reading room is available with a total capacity of 70 readers and accommodates various Encyclopaedias, Yearbooks and Dictionaries etc. These facilities can also be accessed by the ex-students of the college. 
  • NSS: A total of 100 students are associated with the National Social Service which was established in the year 2008 and it focuses on bridging the gap between society and the students. The volunteers work towards the betterment of society by several routes like arranging health camps, plantation drives, cleaning of class rooms and college playground under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, drawing competitions to fund NGOs and Drug Awareness programmes etc. The main objective of NSS is “Education and Personality Development of the Students through Service to Community”.
  • Community College and B.Voc: In the year 2015, DMC was selected for the UGC sponsored Community College Scheme and B.Voc degree programme. It focuses on the development of the students from all aspects like intellectual, physical, social, moral and economical. The course focuses on skill development of the enrolled students for providing a door to enter the skilled workforce atmosphere. The areas in which the specialization is being offered are Photography and Video Production, web designing and Development, Broadcast Journalism, Printing and Book Publishing and Public Relations.
