Anna University Distance Education Admissions

Admissions to the M.Sc course are merit-based, while admissions to MBA and MCA are based on the Distance Education Entrance Test (DEET) conducted by Anna University CDE. However, candidates who have valid TANCET scores will be exempted from DEET. 

How to Apply?

Applications are only accepted offline. The steps to apply are: 

  1. Visit the official website of Anna University CDE and download the application form, or obtain it from one of the study centers. 
  2. Take a print out of the form and fill it. 
  3. Attach the required documents to it. 
  4. Attach the demand draft of INR 650 payable to "Director of the Anna University Distance Learning Center". 
  5. Mail the package to: 

"The Director, 

Centre for Distance Education, Anna University, 

Chennai - 600025."

Ques. What is the pattern of the DEET exam?

Ans. The paper consists of 100 objective type questions in a duration of 2 hours. Each question will have 4 options. Candidates have to choose the correct answer and shade the appropriate circle against the question in the answer sheet with pencil/ballpoint pen (black or blue). Each correct answer is worth 1 mark, and there are no negative marks.

Ques. Where are the study centers for Anna university, Centre for distance education?

Ans. There are six study centers. These are located in Chennai, Madurai, Nagercoil, Coimbatore, Trichy, and Villupuram. It is necessary to attend at least 50% of the contact classes to be eligible for the end semester examination.

Ques. How do I change my Study center?

Ans. You will be allowed to change your study center as long as the specialization you have applied for is offered by the new study center. You need to submit a change of study center form to the CDE office before the contact classes start.

Ques. Is there any internal assessment for all programs? 

Ans. Yes, the theory and practical courses are of 100 marks. This comprises 20 marks for continuous internal assessment and 80 marks for the end-semester examinations.
