Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF), Ernakulam is a unit of Chinmaya Mission. The Chinmaya Mission was founded in 1953 by Swami Chinmayananda, with the primary aim to spread the wisdom of Vedanta to any seeker, of any nationality, caste or group, to enrich and enable them become positive contributors to society. After the Mahasamadhi of Swami Chinmayananda in 1993, Pujya Gurudev, Swami Tejomayananda was appointed as Chairman of Central Chinmaya Mission Trust (CCMT), which is headquartered in Mumbai.

Collaboration

  • Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan in collaboration with AYUSH (the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India) has undertaken to catalogue and digitalize all medical manuscripts in Kerala

  • The University has introduce a Certificate Programme in Sanskrit starting from academic session July 2009. This programme is a joint venture of Chainmaya International Foundation (CIF) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

  • CIF also collaborates with University of Hyderabad (UoH) and International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad on a  titled 'Natural Language Processing Project, ANUSAARAKA’

CIF is engaged in research in the field of Indology and promoting the studies of Sanskrit language. Some of its research works are -

  • Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi offers CIF’s ‘Easy Sanskrit Course’ as its Certificate Course

  • Currently developing a software on Natural Language Processing using Paniniyan Principles of Sanskrit Grammar in collaboration with University of Hyderabad and International Institute of Information Technology
