Campus Life :

It is not that big College with very limited infrastructure compared to its counterparts. Though the toilets are very clean with sanitary napkin vending machines. There's a common room for the students too. The library is spacious with a lot of books and e-book facilities. We have a small canteen and playground. But the only problem is space there's no space for separate classrooms for students. Students are asked to roam outside as they cannot provide enough sitting space. Classes are held in the departmental rooms itself.

Placement Experience :

TCS visits our campus every year. Only starting level jobs are offered with a minimum package of 3 lakh rs. per annum. Many students get placements. The placement process is good and the Alumni Association takes care of everything. Bengali Actress Koyel Mullick is a notable alumni of the Psychology Department. Most of the faculties of University of Calcutta and the affiliated Colleges under were students of the Psychology Department of Gokhale College.

College Events :

The campus life is wonderful. A lot of programme's are held now and then every year. Most noteworthy are the NSS programmes, Cultural Events, Students Freshers, Academic Seminars and Workshops, Annual Exhibitions, blood donation camps and so on. Various festivals are also being celebrated with equal enthusiasm. The management is on point many times students take active participation. These programmes are pretty big and joyful.

The course structure is really good. It is up to date with the updated curriculum. After completing the course the student becomes eligible enough to understand the post graduation course. The course has inculcated enormous knowledge and potential inside me to make me eligible for being a psychologist.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The course B.Sc. (Hons.) Psychology in Akal college of arts and social sciences charged me 1 lakh per year for the three year course, along with this charges of uniform, Xerox charges, security fees of 10,000 per year is also included. The amount of 1 lakh includes both hostel and course fees.

Faculty :

The faculty of my college is well trained and highly experienced in their respective fields of knowledge. The faculty here has deep knowledge about the subject and along with this they continuously make efforts to increase their subjective knowledge and make the course easily understandable.

Remarks :

It is one of the best colleges in India for the BSc Psychology Honours course, and it is in my home state. So I didn't look further. It has very highly qualified professors, who are also practicing psychologists themselves, so we get an insight into what kind of a life we are choosing, along with some bits of experiences we hear from them.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Our syllabus is quite up to date and we have enough practicals based on the course. The faculties are themselves practicing psychologists, so that gives us an added advantage. One professor I'd significantly like to mention is Nilanjana Bagchi ma'am, who is also our Head of the Department. She's exceptionally good.

College Events :

All kinds of special days are celebrated in our college and anyone who wants to participate and has the skills can do it. Newbies are also welcomes with open hands. It has an annual fest where students from every college can come in with passes and participate/spectate in the inter college activities.
