BTech Admission 2023

The BTech Admission Process takes place through entrance exams. These exams can be college centric or All India Exams. Students are judged on the basis of their marks in the exams.

Step 1: Engineering Entrance Examinations

After appearing for 10+2 exams, candidates need to apply, appear and crack the Engineering entrances. Students can apply to these exams by going into the respective portals and uploading the documents like academic certificates, age proof, identity proof, etc. Do not forget to pay the application fees after a successful application.

For admissions to various IITs, candidates will have to crack JEE Main and JEE Advanced. However, there are plenty of state entrances like MHT CET, WBJEE, OJEEKCET, etc. Candidates can also consider autonomous colleges for admissions and in such cases, they will have to clear university level exams like MI Entrance Exam (Jamia Millia Islamia), MET (Manipal Institute) etc.

Step 2: Release of Results

After the results of the entrances come out, aspirants willing to get into IITs and NITs will have to take part in JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Candidates willing to seek admission to other colleges will go for the Counselling round after the results are released.

Step 3: Counselling

In this round, based on the merit list, marks obtained in the entrances and the category into which each candidate falls, the counseling board decides to allot colleges and courses to students.

Step 4: Admission Offer

After the counseling process is done successfully, admission to the most suitable college is offered to the aspirants. Once the student accepts the admission offers, he/she is asked to make further payments for admission confirmation.

Step 5: Verification

In this round, students are called after their admission is confirmed to verify the original documents

There are colleges like BITS Pilani/MesraBanasthali VidyapithICFAI Foundation For Higher Education, etc where students can apply without JEE. However, in that case, these universities can definitely conduct their own admission tests to crack.

However, there can be very few colleges granting admission to the course through merit or management quota.

Note: Ensure to keep on checking all the important websites to not miss out on any important updates on exams, courses and admission.

Ques. What is the current placement and package scenario in Jadavpur University for B.Tech courses?

● Top Answer By Nitin Kumar on 04 Oct 21

Ans. Jadavpur University has managed to survive the recession to give its student a handsome placement package. My friend is currently studying there and their placement happens all around the years, unlike IITs where placement happens for two weeks or so. Like most engineering colleges, CSE as usual tops the placement with their highest packages. The most popular recruiters include Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, etc. Almost 100% of students are placed in all the branches. Here are some branch-wise placement statistics for the year 2020. Departments Average Package Highest Package CSE 20.6 LPA 58 LPA (Google) IT 15 LPA 51 LPA (Shopee Singapore) EE 9.73 LPA 65 LPA (Atlassian) Mechanical Engineering 8 LPA 17.6 LPA (GAIL) Chemical Engineering 6 LPA 16.8 LPA (AB InBev) Production 7.2 LPA 22 LPA (Goldman Sachs) Another good thing at Jadavpur University is that most of the big IT/ Analytics firms do not discriminate between the branches and allow them to sit for their placements. This way, you can grab a job in any field that you would like if you develop an interest in it in your college tenure. Read more

Ques. Is there anything good about IEM, Kolkata for a BTech? Will we get any extra advantage studying in IEM?

● Top Answer By Subhashree Nath on 22 Mar 21

Ans. A friend of mine did her BTech from IEM Kolkata and now she is working as a Cyber Security Analyst in a big firm. Here are a few things that she experienced in her duration at the college.  Unnecessary Rules: Students often complain about the unnecessary discipline enforced by the college to attend all of the lectures and seminars irrespective of their choice and usefulness. Faculty: In terms of faculty, there is a mix of average and good professors. But most of the good professors are moving to different colleges.  Placements: In the terms of placement, the data may show it as amazing but in reality, most of the students of IEM end up in mass recruiting jobs offered by any IT company. Only a few of the students end up in good companies.  If you are choosing IEM try to make the most of it. Other than college learning, try and take up some extra courses such as coding or hacking and security, it will help a lot. There are a handful of helpful faculties at IEM. Interacting and working with those professors will help a lot in going good places. Learn to utilize their time and learn new things. Learn something new and read as much as possible. If you are not happy with campus placements then you should look for off-campus placements as well.Read more

Ques. What is the difference between BE and B.Tech?

● Top Answer By Deepika Roy on 26 Aug 22

Ans. The fundamental difference between BE and BTech is the way these courses are delivered. Contrary to the popular misconception, BE isn’t just theory oriented. Both BE and BTech coursework includes theory as well as practicals. But a BTech offers a more in-depth and advanced level study of a particular field. While BE covers the fundaments.  There are no such differences between BE and BTech, other than the course pattern. These two courses are considered equivalent. In terms of preference, your institute will matter more compared to your degree. IIT students certainly enjoy some advantages in terms of placements and higher studies.    Read more

Ques. Is the MBA tech course offered by NMIMS Mumbai Certified?

● Top Answer By Aakash Roy on 20 May 21

Ans. The MBA Tech. program is specially designed to meet this growing need. It is an integrated course that comprises B.Tech and MBA. It is to be completed in a tenure of 5 years (3+2 years).  The engineering degree is to be completed in 3 years with 15+ subjects each semester and MBA will be completed in 2 years.  All programs of MPSTME are approved by the AICTE.  The faculty for management is the same as the core students of NMIMS.  The student will receive 2 degrees at the end of 5 years:- B.Techfrom NMIMS University. MBA in Technology specialized in the particular subject you choose in your 4th year for Management Studies.  The integrated degree has more potential than a general degree acquired at any of the rival colleges Like Manipal, VIT, SRM, etc. The tag of NMIMS is also an added advantage.
