- VU Amsterdam’s Master's program allows students to specialize in one of these four fields, but also offers the opportunity to combine courses from all these fields. The program offers students the theoretical knowledge and practical skills to tackle complex problems at a high level of abstraction, keeping in mind the need to translate theoretical solutions into clear-cut policy advice. The contents are firmly rooted in economics, but shed light on the multi-disciplinary nature of many real-world policy questions.
- The program addresses highly relevant and closely interrelated policy issues in today’s modern society in the field of regional development (such as the advantages of agglomerations), urban problems (such as crime), transport policies (such as traffic congestion management), environmental degradation (such as climate change), real estate economics (such as housing shortage and public housing). As such, it is concerned with many aspects of society in which space, distance, and networks play a fundamental role.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited research university including at least three full years of academic study amounting to a minimum of 180 EC or equivalent. We do not require a GRE or GMAT test score.
- The program is open to students with a university Bachelor's degree that provides sufficient knowledge of microeconomics or a solid background in mathematics and statistics for economics.
- Successful completion of the following courses and studied literature is required: Microeconomics, Mathematics, and Econometrics.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- VU Amsterdam requires all applicants to take an English test. Exceptions are made for students who have completed a bachelor's or master's in Canada, the USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand, or Australia.
- TOEFL and IELTS tests must have been completed no more than two years before 1st September of the year in which your course starts.
- Note: TOEFL MyBestScore is not accepted.
International students hailing from non-English speaking countries also need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
