Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Kulshrestha is the Dean of Jaipur Institute of Technology-Group of Institutions. She is having more than 20 years of experience in education field. She is Science Post graduate . She earned her PH.D degree from Rajasthan University, Jaipur. She has more than 100 publications to her credit in International and National Journals & Conferences. Five patents are also in her name. She is the author of more than 5 text books. She is the member of different professional bodies in India and abroad. She has organized more than 200 programs such as conferences, Seminars, Workshops and Short Training Programs. She has received number of awards/recognition from different Bodies for his valuable contribution in education and social work.Her unique management style had a miraculous effect in students and faculties in a short period as a Dean. She has visited many foreign countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Thailand, Mauritius etc.
You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with education and Engineering?
Key factors which connected me to engineering education are the present era like: There is nothing but technology in the world in any aspect. We can’t live a moment without technology. So, I want to remain in between sharing knowledge in the field of technology.
What is the latest program that you are offering in the Engineering dept. which will help students outperform and stand apart from the crowd? (Courses curriculum and future)
We are offering some new technologies in the area of renewable energy, power sourcing, computing and quality management.
How did you train yourself/faculty to deliver this program to the students?
We are trained by outside resources through faculty development programs, short term training programs, NPTEL, NPTU and NITTTR courses. Sometimes we take help from our affiliation body, AICTE and nearby institutions of repute in the field of expertization.

What do you see as Jaipur Institute of Technology’s greatest strengths?
Our greatest strength are the students and faculty members who are continuously raising the employability skill to meet the gap between industry and getting placed in good companies.
Any insights into how Jaipur Institute of technology could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
We are committed to serve society. Considering all the factors of student belongings like area, economic health, language, medium and class of the student in terms of eligibility. So, we do consider the available strength and weakness and provide a positive response.
How do you tend to build an industry connection with the Engineering program?
We are very good at connecting industry exposure towards students. We reach out to industries to impart their shop floor knowledge to our students through industrial visits. We call their managers for getting through to share their knowledge to make our students into engineers. We organise kaizen conclave every year with more than 60 companies and make presentations in front of students. Our students visit industries and promote solutions to industries also.
What are the types of projects that the students are working on in the Engineering Department at JIT?
There are so many projects our students are working upon, like they are working on solar projects, dexterity on projects of civil construction testing and computing.

With many students graduating from engineering every year, what would you like to advise them for the future and their career in Engineering?
We would like to ask them to work in technical fields only and let them prepare for futuristic technology. We also want them to serve the nation.
