Dr. Anjali Gupta is Assistant Professor at Haryana School of Business. She is an alumnus of Haryana School of Business, GJUS&T, Hisar where she has done an MBA as well as a Phd. She has about 11 years of teaching experience in academics and has published more than 14 research papers in international and national journals and conferences. She has authored 2 books. She has attended 17 international and national conferences/ seminars/ workshops and presented 9 papers in these conferences. Even she has obtained the Best Research Paper award in HRM Area in the International Conference organized by Om Institute, Hisar and 2nd Best Research Paper award in HRM Area in the 3rd International Conference on Advances in management and Technological Innovations organized by Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad, Prayagraj School of Management Studies. She has been organizing various extracurricular activities in HSB. Her areas of specialization include Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship Development, Business Research Methods, Statistics, Management Process, and Organisational Behaviour.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?

“To listen to student's grievances and work as a team with the faculty member”

We establish healthy relations with students by listening to their grievances properly, understanding what they need, guiding them for their careers as well as helping them in placements. With Fellow Faculty, We work as a team in fulfilling the department’s mission, vision, and objectives.


How do you try to bring in a practical approach to subjects?

“Providing Students with Industrial projects and research related learning”

We include current data while imparting knowledge about the subject and use different methods in teaching like case studies so that students can understand real-life situations and it would enhance their decision-making capability in different situations of industry. Ultimately they become ready for the corporate sector. Our department runs two programs i.e. MBA and M.Com program. It is the inclusion of those necessary courses which is the need of the industry like we are specializing in Business Analytics area, Finance area, Marketing area, Human Resource area, International Business area, Productions and operations management, Information Technology and Commerce area.


What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?

“Providing Students with skill enhancing Workshops and Webinars”

Department conducts many workshops and webinars for the overall development of the students. From time to time industry interactive programs, industrial trips, alumni talks with the students, so many extracurricular activities have been organized by the department to provide necessary skills to the students.

How do you strategize and update the curriculum?

“Organising Curriculum according to various alumnus and industrialists”

We have designed the curriculum according to knowledge acquired from various alumni, industrialists and what is currently running in various sectors like research, marketing, finance, international business, information technology, production, and operations management, etc. A panel of professionals works on this curriculum. It gets updated every year.


What are your views on placements and higher education?

“Encourage Students for both Placements and Higher Educations”

We did a tremendous growth in placements in the last 5 years. We are inviting several companies over here for campus placements. Many high-rated banks, insurance companies, properties advisor companies like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential, Kotak Mahindra, Pin click Properties, BYJU’S, etc. are visiting our campus for placements. Moreover, we are boosting our students for doing extra online courses so that they can improvise their capabilities and motivating them to qualify NET, JRF, and TOEFL so that they get admission in Ph. D. programs and pursue their higher education abroad as well.


How do you help your student to cope up with the competition?

“Encouraging Students to do skill enhancement programs and internships”

Our students are doing an internship in various high profile companies as well as doing extra online courses. They are improving themselves by participating in various extracurricular activities. So with all these things they are having better skills than other students from an outside department.


Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Organise Skill Enhancement Programs to expose Students to the real-world challenges”

Yes, we are organizing several extracurricular activities and students are getting themselves busy in organizing various activities and managing the whole of the tasks. This will make them good managers in the future. We are organizing Spring Carnival, Budget Manthan, Quiz Competition, extempore, various online competitions due to the Covid-19 pandemic, various talks, etc. 


What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?

“COVID-19 is the biggest challenge of the current time”

Challenges: The biggest challenge is the Covid-19 pandemic. Nowadays, imparting important and necessary skills to students becomes difficult because of online classes. Yet we are trying our best to cope up with his pandemic. We are organizing workshops, webinars, etc. from time to time so that students' loss is less.


What was your vision for college from starting and how are you trying to achieve the same?

“To become a successful, dedicated, and committed teacher”

My vision is to become a successful, dedicated, and committed teacher which ultimately benefits all the stakeholders of the organization i.e. GJUS&T itself, to the students and the society. I am achieving this vision through continuous improvement in myself and continuous learning.


What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to teaching the students?

“Encouraging Students to participate in various extracurricular activities”

Class activities have been organized for the students like role-playing, business games, extempore, presentation, case studies, quiz competition, open-book test, presentations, MCQs, Practical assignments, field visits, etc. to teach to the students.

What do you see as the college’s greatest strengths and how it can be enhanced?

“Our Faculty Members are our greatest strength”

Our Haryana School of Business is a big department of 27 regular faculty, 6 contractual, 520 students, and more than 280 research scholars. The whole faculty is highly skilled and master in their courses dealing with. They teach to the students in a very enthusiastic manner. We are having computer labs, a big library, and an auditorium with state-of-the-art facilities for the students. 


What advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

“Students should pursue MBA Program”

I would like to advise them that with an MBA program, they can grow their career as an entrepreneur itself or to become a manager in well-reputed companies, banks, or can pursue their higher education by going abroad and by doing Ph.D. also. So they are having so many options with them after doing MBA and M.Com from our department.
