Alliance University hosts the annual industry leaders’ alliance 2023 bringing together corporate veterans from across the industry and unveiling the brochure for the newly launched programme of MBA Digital Transformation

The 2023 Industry Leaders’ Alliance (ILA) saw overwhelming support in the form of huge presence of corporate leaders invited for the event hosted by the Office of Career Advancement & Networking of Alliance University at Taj, MG Road, Bengaluru. ILA was an evening full of invigorating conversations, meaningful exchanges, and unforgettable experiences of an esteemed community of leaders across diverse business functions and industries. It is also a platform to recognize and acknowledge industry veterans who create an impact on the Alliance community as mentors, advisors, strategic partners, and thought leaders.

The event started with the welcome address by the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Anubha Singh who took the opportunity in welcoming all the senior corporates, faculties and individually welcoming the panel members. This was followed by a panel discussion that was organised on the theme of digital transformation. The topic for the panel discussion was “Driving Digital Transformation: Cutting-edge Technologies and Their Roles”

Thought leaders such as Mr. Vikas Arora, Managing Director from State Street; Mr. S. Rajesh, CEO - Karnataka from Reliance Jio; Mr. Venkatanarayan V, Vice President and Digital Transformation Leader, GMO from Dr. Reddy’s; and Dr. Sunil Kumar C, Engineering Director, Innovation, Data Science and Automation from Maersk were the panel members. Mr. Ramakant, an alumnus of Alliance and working with Capgemini as Client Partner moderated the panel discussion. The panel members shared excerpts of digital transformation journeys they have seen and implemented in their professional careers and at the organizations they represented. They also laid out the importance of a digital roadmap in managing various business functions from the perspective of growth, profitability, and sustainability at organizations. The clear outcome of the discussion was that an enterprise with no planned investment on digital transformation is on a path of extinction.

The event also saw the launch of the one-of-a-kind two-year full-time MBA Programme in Digital Transformation that was planned as a moment of revelation for the delegates. The MBA in Digital Transformation is curated by an industry consortium of companies such as ABB Robotics, Adroitec, Siemens, and Systema led by AMS India. Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor, Alliance University during the launch highlighted the importance of digital transformation in business and the need for highly qualified manpower to lead such efforts. He introduced the programme and the partners associated with Alliance University in the design of the programme.

Dr. U Chandrashekar, Chief Executive Officer, GMSIR Scientific Innovation & Research and Mr. Shashidhar NC, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Advance Mechanical Services Pvt. Ltd. (AMS India) spoke on how the idea of such a contemporary programme developed into reality. This was followed by the video and brochure launch of the MBA Digital Transformation programme by the leadership team of Alliance University. Ms. Surekha Shetty concluded the launch program by thanking the members in the audience from the consortium who have been instrumental in design of the programme that will have the first batch of students start in spring of 2023 and by inviting all the industry partners present at the event to join Alliance University in the success of the MBA Digital Transformation programme to mentor and guide students towards digital leadership.

Many of the delegates including corporate mentors, members from the board of studies and other senior members of the industry shared their thoughts on the way Alliance is partnering with the corporate to develop students to be industry-ready and employable and congratulated Alliance on the launch of the MBA programme in Digital Transformation.

Industry Leaders present at the event who have completed the mentorship programme at Alliance were felicitated for their contributions and support in shaping students for a bright professional future. The Industry Leaders’ Alliance successfully concluded with Dr. Ajay Kumar Yadav, Interim Dean at Alliance School of Business delivering the vote of thanks.

Alliance School of Law - Justice N Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition, 2023

Date: February 23, 2023

The School of Law of Alliance University is all set to host the Justice N Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition from 25th to 26th February 2023. This annual competition aims to provide a platform for law students from different parts of the country to showcase their advocacy skills and compete with each other in a simulated courtroom environment.

The competition is named after Justice N Santosh Hegde, former judge of the Supreme Court of India, who is also the chief guest for the event. Justice Hegde has had an illustrious career as a jurist and is known for his integrity and commitment to justice. The competition serves as a fitting tribute to his legacy and contribution to the legal field.

A total of 38 teams from top law schools across India will be participating in this two-day event, including teams from West Bengal, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. The teams will be competing against each other in a preliminary round where they will represent both sides, petitioner and respondent. The top teams will then move on to compete in the knockout rounds - quarterfinals, semi-finals, and final rounds. All the teams would arrive to the Alliance University Central Campus in Bengaluru on 24th February 2023 for research exam before the inaugural that is scheduled at 9:30 am on 25th February 2023. The inaugural event would be live telecasted on the YouTube channel of Alliance University (https://www.youtube.com/@AllianceUniOfcl). 

The preliminary rounds are being judged by the esteemed alumni of Alliance School of Law; over 25 professionals working in reputed law firms, MNCs, and the academics. The semi-final rounds will be presided over by an esteemed panel of judges, including Mr. Priyesh Sharma, Assistant Vice-President, Nucleus Office Parks (Blackstone Commercial Entity); Mr. Gaurav Sahay, Partner, LinkLegal; Dr. Sujith Surendran, Associate Dean, PES University; and Dr. Sunil George, Principal, IFIM Law school. 

Justice Michael D'Cunha, former Judge of the Karnataka High Court and Ms. Roopa Prasad Doraswamy, Founder of Flywork.io and General Counsel of Microland, have consented to be judges in the final round. These judges are highly respected in the legal profession and bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that will help ensure that the competition is fair and just.

The competition is being organized by a team of thirty student members and seven faculty members from the Alliance School of Law. They are being aided by over 50 volunteers who are also students of the school. The organizing team has been working tirelessly to ensure that the event runs smoothly and that all the participants and judges have a great experience.

Justice N Santosh Hegde National Moot Court Competition 2023 promises to be an exciting and challenging event for all the participants. It provides an excellent opportunity for law students to hone their skills and gain valuable experience that will help them in their future legal careers. With such an impressive line-up of judges and participants from across the country, this year's competition is sure to be a grand success.

The Introductory TEDxAllianceUniversity Themed 'Beyond Boundaries' Brings Together People and Their Ideas Worth Spreading

On January 21, 2023, the inaugural TEDx talk was held at the Central Campus of Alliance University in Bengaluru. Story after captivating stories about people going "Beyond Boundaries" in their pursuit of joy, personal growth, adventure, self-reliance, success in the workplace, parenthood, acting, or political office was shared. TEDxAllianceUniversity, with its "Beyond Boundaries" theme, is evidence of Alliance University's dedication to expanding educational opportunities for the benefit of individuals, groups, and communities. The objective of TED to provide a platform for ideas worth spreading is a natural fit with Alliance's vision of itself as a hub for the arts, culture, sciences, and ideas. The talk points of the event were a) Inclusion and Diversity; b) Women in Leadership Roles; and c) Building a resilient workforce through skill-based education.

Academic discourse has recently shifted away from a focus on disciplinary silos and toward a more fluid and permeable relationship between fields of study. TEDxAlianceUniversity's "Beyond Boundaries" subject is an invitation to explore the frontiers of knowledge at the intersection of several fields of study. Alliance University hopes that by hosting the event, it would encourage locals to learn more about the world and to challenge conventional ways of thinking. The purpose of this effort was to get people to take action on the TEDxAllianceUniversity stage by using powerful stories about the intricacies and challenges of the human condition. Alliance maintains its dedication to improving people's lives through education and to bringing about societal change that is both egalitarian and comprehensive.

Regular folks with Extraordinary Tales: Candida Louis, a girl from a small hamlet in Karnataka, India, who rode her bike around the world to follow her dream; Lt. Cal Rohit Mishra (Red), an Indian Army veteran who co-founded an organisation that empowers girls through self-defence and self-confidence; Ankita Mehra, a queer child who grew up to be an LGBTQ+ activist and a Diversity and Inclusion Leader; Ashish Raorane, one of the very few Indian cross-country rally pilots to have competed in the Dakar Rally, the world's toughest molly mini event on a Malavika Avinash is a powerful political advocate in addition to being a household personality in the South Indian film and television industry. Alliance University alumnus Ruchi Falodiya, who defied all odds to find success in the business world and become an inspiration to those who find life difficult: Two examples of media professionals who have made significant contributions to the creation of award-winning shows are Vaishnavi HS, a medio professional, and Saiwyn quadras, a master storyteller who has written the screenplays for Robywind films like Mary Kom, Neerja, and Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran.

Between and beyond the talks, the networking meet event day lunch and much more kept everyone energised and enthusiastic. The musical performance was given by a group of students from Alliance University. Independently organised talk events, TEDx events bring people together to have a TED-like experience. The TEDxAllianceUniversity event had speakers and attendees from the fields of business, new engineering, liberal arts, and beyond. The event is a way for Alliance University to recognise the will for positive change that ordinary people have demonstrated by sharing their inspiring tales and ideas with the World.

Alliance University holds grand annual convocation ceremony

The 14th of January, 2023, in Bengaluru: Alliance University, a top private institution and the first of its kind in South India, held its annual convocation at the university's Central Campus in Anekal, Bengaluru.

Many graduates and their loved ones showed up to the celebration. Hon'ble Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan, Pro-Vaiter of Alliance University and Minister for Higher Education, IT & BT, Science & Technology and Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Livelihood of the Government of Karnataka, presided over the convocation. Justice S. R. Bannurmath, Chairman of the Karnataka Law Commission, and Shri. Harshit Singhal, Managing Director of Hashedin by Deloitt

Pro-Chancellor Mr. Abhoy G. Chebbi opened the ceremony by congratulating the graduates on their academic achievements and encouraging them to build their professional networks, improve their communication skills, learn new skills regularly, adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, and grow as leaders. Dr. Anubha Singh, Alliance University's Vice Chancellor, then gave the school's annual report. The 25th anniversary of Alliance Education and the University's mission to become a world-class institution that changes lives through excellence in teaching, research, and community development were highlighted as she provided an overview of the University's history and accomplishments. She spoke highly of the school's state-of-the-art facilities, numerous awards, prestigious faculty members, and dedication to academic inquiry and creative endeavours.

Hon'ble Dr. C. N. Ashwath Narayan delivered the keynote address, in which he congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to put their education to good use in the world. He congratulated the Academic Council members on the Board of Governors. Congratulations to the graduating students and faculty/staff on their hard work and dedication to making this an innovative school. He pondered the school's impact on the development of future leaders and the changing face of India's higher education system. He spoke of Karnataka's commitment to fully implementing the NEP within the next decade as part of the state's effort to become a growth leader in India. Alliance University, which he said had its 25th anniversary in 2022 and had expanded into liberal education and accelerated literary festivals on campus, was another success story he highlighted. After thereafter, Hashedin by Deloitte's managing director, Mr. Harshit Singhal, urged the new graduates to keep studying so that they can adapt to the world's rapid pace of change and disruption. He advised them to put others' needs ahead of their own by building credibility and consistency in their decision-making. He urged them to realise that success and optimum performance depend on doing work that they enjoy. In his talk, Singhal emphasised the importance of studying, establishing oneself as a trustworthy counsellor, and finding fulfilment in one's career.

Justice 5 R. Bonnurmath, Chairman of the Karnataka Law Commission, gave the concluding address. He thanked the graduates' parents, relatives, and teachers for their contributions to their success, and he urged them to make the most of their newfound freedom and use it to help others.

At the end of the ceremony, graduates were awarded their degrees and diplomas, and those who had excelled in their chosen fields were presented with medals and certificates of achievement. There were a total of 24.45 graduates at the convocation, and 1615 students got degrees (830 diplomas and 14 doctorates). 161 rank holders were presented with medals and diplomas.

Alliance University to host an Extravagant Literary Festival on May 20 and 21, 2022

A press conference was held on May 6, 2022 by Alliance University to launch the Alliance Literary Festival or ALF to be held at the central campus of the University on May 20th & 21st, 2022. With a vision to be the hub of art, culture, science and ideas in India, Alliance University is presenting the biggest literary festival to be hosted by an educational institution in India. An initiative of the Alliance School of Liberal Arts, the event will witness a power packed line-up of speakers and performers in the areas of art, history, culture, politics, management, media, music, and much more. The festival will be an ensemble of celebrated literary titans such as Shashi Tharoor, Former Union Minister and Lok Sabha Member of Parliament; Rajdeep Sardesai, Journalist & News Anchor; Anita Nair, Novelist; noted Kannada writers such as Pratibha Nandakumar, Poet & Filmmaker; Mamta Sagar, Poet & Writer; Vasudhendra, Author; and performers such as iconic singer Usha Uthup and stand-up comedian Kenny Sebastian among others. The ALF will have more than 60 popular figures from different fields speaking and performing during the two-day event. 

Speaking at the conference, Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor, Alliance University spoke about how imaginations transform into iconic literature, art, music, culture, spirituality, and heritage. He emphasized how humans simply need to be alive to the happenings around them and imbibe the true spirit of an observer, a learner, and contribute to the best of their abilities to make the world a better place. He quoted a renowned author to express how developing an interest in life and forgetting oneself to see the beauty of the everyday and people around defines the core of the Alliance Literary Festival. He stated that Alliance in its silver jubilee year is deeply committed to valuing and protecting the rich culture and heritage of the country whilst allowing for new ideas to emerge, new technologies to be invented, and bright young minds to create the much-required stir in conventional thinking. He mentioned that the Alliance way has always been unique, and since its inception, has forged a path to a holistic transformation of education in India. He invited all to attend the event and experience the legacy that Alliance in set to create.

Anubha Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Alliance University in her address spoke about the savvy movement of a creative turn where Alliance is not just a patron of technology, business and law but an anchor for arts, literature and cultural activity. She stated that the ALF, which is intellectually stimulating, aesthetically satiating, socially entertaining, cognitively enlightening and culturally enriching would explore the “ideas for a brave new world” through celebrated authors, sports personalities, stalwarts of politics, honourable judges, famous artists, ad gurus, stand-up comedian, and many others. She mentioned that cognizant of its role in driving the local, regional and the creative economy, Alliance through ALF would present art and culture as essential for economic development; strengthening curricula; improving the quality of life; addressing issues of sustainability; and inviting, preserving, and retaining creative talent.

The Associate Dean of the Alliance School of Liberal Arts, Anirudh Sridhar spoke on how the Alliance Literary Festival is the full manifestation of Bengaluru’s growing appetite for art and culture. Standing at the crossroads of classical civilisation and modern innovation, Bengaluru is the ideal place to find new meaning for creativity in the 21st century. The ALF redefines the ‘literary’, bringing together diplomats, entrepreneurs, judges, and journalists, and ‘festivals’, by not only celebrating but tackling the great topics of our age. He stated that the ALF will be the forum for a clash of ideas and titans.

The press conference also had the ALF 2022 director, Sabin Iqbal; curator, Abhayan Varghese; Shinie Antony, founder and director of Bangalore Literature Festival; and Nandita Bose who is a writer and poet.

Alliance University through the press conference has opened the gates to the world to experience the best of literature, art and culture in the two days of the literary festival that would take place on its beautiful, expansive and lush green campus.

Alliance University celebrating 25 years of Alliance Education

Alliance University is celebrating its journey of remarkable 25 years in the field of education. The university has entered its silver jubilee year in 2022. Honorable Minister for Higher Education, State of Karnataka, Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan unveiled the logo of 25 years of Alliance Education, symbolizing critical thinking, scientific inquiry, literacy, leadership and philanthropy, and the continuous cycle of learning.

Dr. C.N. Ashwathnarayan congratulated Alliance University for completing its 25 years of existence. He highlighted that the University has continued to provide quality education, which is the true hallmark for development. He also stated that the institution has reached out to all sections of the society while overcoming certain challenges in the process and mentioned taking steps in the right direction towards fostering holistic education. Dr. Ashwathnarayan reassured that the State Government will continue to support private universities in enhancing student diversity and improving the overall quality of education.

Established in 2010, Alliance University through its strong governance and leadership focuses on improving the quality of the faculty members to provide best-in-class faculty from across the globe.
