What are the key factors that keep you connected to the education sector?

“An innate desire to educate and prepare the youth for leadership in the industry”

How we want to foresee our country depends upon how well we can nurture the students and shape them into becoming globally competent individuals. With my knowledge and experience, I wish to contribute towards technological advancements, and the growth of the economy, enabling people to lead better lives. The beliefs, assumptions and convictions of our students dictate the future of our society.

What is your philosophy on leadership?

“To form a team of highly inspired professionals and work with unity”

As a leader, I may have a vision but to work it out, I have to depend upon my team. Hence my focus lies in developing their abilities judiciously. We emphasize transformational leadership, rather than directional leadership. Aiming to establish new trends, introduce innovative training methodologies, and guide our students towards the road to success. I want to build a team of all our faculty members and students by developing a common attitude, needed for strengthening the university.

What do you think should be the university's top priority over the next 10 years?

“Delivering world-class education and research facilities for continuous improvement”

We reinforce the importance of integrity, innovation and excellence in all that we do. To facilitate this culture, the college provides support to its departments, faculty and staff. We have plans to develop more regular programs like LLB, Travel Tourism and Hospitality Management, B.Ed, Mass Communication on the campus. For this, we are concerned with development of infrastructure. We also wish to open travel tourism and hospitality management courses as Nagaland has enough scope to promote tourism.

What do you see as Global Open University's biggest strengths?

“The educational programs and quality of curriculum are our strengths”

Most of our educational programs are vocational. By learning through these programmes a student not only gets knowledge but can also secure employment. We are open to the education of those community members that are living in villages and could not take formal education before. Apart from traditional programs, we also offer programs like Master of Arts and Master of Science in Counselling, Physical education, Master of public health, Environmental science, Organic farming, MBA in Marketing Management, Human Resources Management, Productions Operations Management, Rural Development, etc. I believe these programs are our strength, for us to move forward.

Any suggestions you would like to give your current youth?

“We must achieve economic self-reliance through our culture”

Our students need to focus on the native tradition, culture and indigenous heritage, so as to maintain our own identity globally. Our native historical science and technology has taught us to be self reliant. My suggestion is that we need to be connected to our country by respecting and understanding past heritage, culture and traditions.

How do you tend to establish a healthy environment in your institute?

“By creating an open platform for communication and exchange of ideas”

We maintain a cordial and friendly relationship with our faculties, students and administrative colleagues. Even when we oppose each other, we are very open minded. During covid-19, we have stayed connected with them and given academic support. Our objective is to make the students self-sufficient and all our efforts are directed in this direction.
