What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Successfully enhancing their journey in the University”

The prime role of the Director of an Academic Department is to provide strong academic leadership and ensure the best possible student experience. I help my students throughout their learning through the fulfillment of the University´s responsibilities concerning students in respect of their admission, instruction, the progress of examination and the availability of pastoral assistance.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects?

“Exposing students to industrial training”

A practical approach towards the subject is very necessary and, in our school, we have tried the maximum possible practical approach to serve the students. By exploring the area of interest of the students and then exposing them to on-site learning, industrial visits and hands-on training, we help best practices in the industry itself. Internships and training at various industrial sites are being offered as well.

What are your thoughts on the ‘hybrid mode’ of education?

“A much wider and beneficial approach in education”

In the last decade, hybrid learning has been widely practiced, numerous studies have been done on its effectiveness. The results are pretty clear: not only do students tend to prefer it as their format of choice, but the learning outcomes and academic achievement are stronger with a hybrid than with face-to-face or online teaching alone. Also, the students are personally mentored by faculty members by explaining to them that learning cannot be zoomed from the comforts of home only and online classes cannot be a substitute for the classroom as learning requires discipline and alacrity as well. Although we need to equip faculty members for structuring and planning hybrid courses and activities as well as students for using the time wisely.

What advice would you like to give to students who will be joining in this session?

“Learn thoroughly and never hesitate to ask when in problem”

You cannot learn without involvement, thus enjoy learning and make learning a pleasure. Unless you are actively involved in the learning process, no one can teach you. So, attend the lectures carefully, make notes after understanding, request the teacher to explain further if you have not understood, just ask, it’s that simple.
