What are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

“Prepare students to compete in the global marketplace”

Upon enrolling in the university, students take the first step towards trusting the faculty to achieve their goals together. My goal as a faculty member at JNU is to equip students with the skills they need to compete in the world and achieve their dreams. By providing the students with the required laboratory equipment and letting them practice and learn through experiments, we plan to guide them to the right knowledge.

How do you strategize the curriculum and how often it gets updated?

“A curriculum aligning with the modern changes in the field of fashion”

The curriculum at JNU is all set with the latest updates in the fashion industry. As I mentioned, we tend to teach students with practical approaches and experiments. Lab work is carried out while discussing solutions fictitiously to the different cases of concern. We conduct regular tests to help the students improvise theoretically as well.

How will the courses help students become ready for their careers?

"Educates students how to act effectively and handle situations in the design industry"

We have three programs, Diploma, Bachelors and Masters of business administration in fashion designing. These programs help the students to master their subjects theoretically and practically. This helps the students to act proactively and get smarter in handling situations of this designing industry. The students can make their career in the sub-field of the retail industry, designing industry, business administration for luxury fashion brands as well.

Do you have any extracurricular activities to enhance the skills of the students?

“Educational tours, industrial training and working on real-world projects”

We encourage students to participate in local as well as national competitions. It allows them to become more familiar with the business world. We also conduct educational tours and industrial training. It allows the students to work on real-time projects and learn how the industry works so well.

What are the challenges you faced while uplifting the quality of education in the department?

“Teaching a practically oriented subject through online platforms is challenging”

The biggest challenge that we face while teaching our students is to teach them online about a subject that is completely based on practical experiments. To know how to cut a pattern and learn how to construct the garments of their designing dream world is an activity to be done in the classroom. Offline courses help us achieve the aim of working with their ideas to create beautiful dresses and gowns that are inspired by nature.

What are the approaches you bring in apart from curriculum to train the students?

“Sessions for resolving academic queries and skill-enhancing programs”

We tend to guide the students through personality development, soft skill development and doubt clearing sessions. Understanding the basics of what you’re studying is essential. Having a clear vision of your future short-term goals helps our students to climb the ladder of success step-by-step.

What valuable advice would you like to give the students for a prosperous career ahead?

“A sound mind and the ability to learn from mistakes are necessities for success"

Having the right mindset and clear vision are the secrets of promising success in the designing field. I would suggest my students put their heart into designing and management alongside a strategic approach towards achieving their goals. To accept every challenge big or small that they face and learn from their mistakes. This will bring them utter satisfaction in their work.
