Dr.Justice Meena V Gomber is the Chairperson of the Sponsoring Body of Raffles University. An Alumnus and a merit holder of University of London, holding the degree of doctorate in law, is Former Judge of Rajasthan High Court, who joined as a young judicial officer & served for about 41 years. After demitting as The bench of the High Court, she headed the Armed Force Tribunal of Rajasthan for three years Jurisdiction of South west Command, Appeals of Court Marshall & other cases. Along with her professional career; she remained actively involved with the Academics throughout & did her double LLM (one from University of London and one from University of Rajasthan. India). She also learnt Japanese language from Morley Minto College , London and Indonesian Law from Institute in Singapore. 

I follow a hybrid approach philosophy, which is a combination of democratic and transformational style

I think I have a hybrid philosophy, and that is a combination of Democratic & Transformational Philosophy of Leadership. As you know Raffles University has a Vision and the Vision is : “To evolve as an Institution of Excellence”

An Institute where scholars are encouraged to broaden the frontiers of their knowledge with the help of globally acknowledged Academia & Research Centres, where a conducive ambience is provided to them to develop informed and enquiring minds, enabling them to move towards achieving the goal.

When I say Democratic Philosophy of Leadership or you may also call it Participative Leadership, it means asking help and collaboration from the subordinates thereby taking advantage of individual creativity. The other is Transformational Style, where I set Challenging Goals and express higher expectations from each one of them. And inspire them through effective communication & collaboration which eventually leads in achieving the greater result. 

I think I have an ability to coach others, to kindle enthusiasm, to effectively communicate and to inspire subordinates. I am a confident, honest and creative person with a positive attitude and believe in saying “We”, instead of ‘I’ and also in use of ‘Let’s go’.

We put in time and efforts to curate each program, and ensure they match up to the industry standards

All the Programs in the University are key programs, because before starting any program, a lot of research is done about it. The University is an Educational Institution and number of educational activities such as Webinars, Lectures, Conferences, Visit of the Schools, Sport & Cultural Events, Literary events such as Debate, Quiz Competitions and Science Olympiads etc. are organized from time to time involving all the schools in the area. It is common knowledge that every-one is getting affected by such mega global trends. We see how this is affecting the legal profession also as new areas of commerce like online Commerce, Social commerce, Peer to Peer Commerce, Copyright, Trademark, CryptoCurrency (Bitcoin) and the areas of mergers, acquisitions, insolvency & Bankruptcy, Intellectual & Maritime Law & joint ventures as also other sectors are booming. 

Our students need to understand that the competition is no longer about who knows more facts, that competition has already been won by Google, the competition today is as to who is more effective.And Law as a profession is about Justice, I wish and recommend that every law graduate has to serve their client to the best and always remain ethical. One ignorance from you on job may cost someone’s life and trouble to their family, may be to the whole society.

Personally, I do have the ambition and obligation to fulfill the dreams of my late husband who was the Founder of this University as well.

Our Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) takes care of all Placements and Training needs & the Cell is professionally managed. Our students do have the opportunity to get excellent internships and placements in the Industries around us. However, notwithstanding the fact that, Training, Internship and Placement Activities are Inseparable attributes of the University, we believe in bringing out Job Providers instead of Job seekers.

Law program ensures its practical approach by having a method of ‘Clinical Legal education’ system. Herein, organizing various moot court competitions, street plays, association with local authorities, having Legal Aid in campus and making students a part of it where students interact with the general public and assist them with their legal problems. This cell organises the legal camps and students in supervision of their teachers hear the legal issues of the general public and suggest them the possible legal ways to solve the issue. Internship programs are a crucial and very significant part of legal education; where students work under the reputed legal firms or Judicial Officers to learn the practical aspects of the legal field.
