What is your philosophy of leadership?

“Engaging more, achieving more”

A leader is regularly involved in engaging his team members to pursue relevant tasks with utmost effectiveness. I see the VC’s leadership as educational leadership, so I am responsible for developing the university backed up by academics and professionalism. I delegate tasks for other people and motivate them to deploy appropriate methods to achieve those goals.

What are some of the key strategies you imply for the administration of your University?

“Bringing in collaborations, industrial projects and innovation”

I focus on improving the scientific, economic and environmental health of the university. I lay stress on the induction of new study programs, MoUs with different universities, recruitment of faculties, research projects beneficial for students and industry, building innovation & knowledge. Some of the factors we constantly work on are developing the students’ connection with the outside world, recruiting faculties, research and extension activities, communication with farmers, and other integrated programs.

How does the curriculum of your University ensure the best practice for the industry?

“Practical and scientific exposure with innovative ideas”

We have internship programs through which students visit hospitals, farms and laboratories to experience the practical know-how of the subjects. Recently we have introduced a program called LIKES Centre – Live stocks, Innovation, Knowledge and Entrepreneurship Skills Centre. In these centres, we have given the responsibility to faculty members to guide students with innovative ideas and practically implement them. We incubate, mature and pitch the ideas to different industries as well. The interested industries can take up the students for specific projects, and in this way, a student gets an opportunity to work in industries while studying.

What do you think should be the University’s top priority over the next 10 years?

“Better developments and integrations for benefit of all”

We strive to flourish the university’s academics and govern teaching, research and extension activities to maximize the benefits to students and society. At the same time, we are looking forward to linking with the government and other organizations so that our university can be a part of the development of community in a more frontier way. Also, we wish to create a dynamic higher education environment where the minds of students are trained in a way to bond the students’ discipline with other disciplines so that a student can innovate and opt for entrepreneurship. We have the responsibility to teach young minds to mature and connect with society.

What would you like people to know about your University they may not know?

“Differential practices and distinct connectivity”

In our university, education is effective because of the smart classes, clinical practices, and we integrate our students with entrepreneurship skills. We are focusing on producing not only veterinary professionals but also entrepreneurs and industrialists in demand. Our university moves forward with new disciplines, talented faculties, programs to promote entrepreneurship and enhanced connections with the government and society. We are working on research projects beneficial for society, introducing new technologies in our livestock farms, and making it economic and digital. We are also working on the development of organic farming and are giving importance to solar energy utilization as well.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth?

“Be self sustaining in this competitive world”

My only advice to the youth is to enter any discipline with passion and commitment, and connect and deliver the society in the first place. Students should grow up with the mind-set of being an entrepreneur or being self-reliant, rather than being just job focused.
