Mr. Praveen Kumar Soni has been working as the Head of Department in School of Pharmacy at Sangam University, Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He completed his B. Pharm and M. Pharma from Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur and PhD from B R Nahata College of Pharmacy, Mandsaur. He has an amazing 10 years of teaching experience and has also published 5 research/review papers in various national and international journals.

Being part of management, what is your philosophy of leadership? 

"Leadership is all about impacting others life in a positive way and helping them to grow"

Leadership I believe is a continuous process of influencing others in a positive way. Leadership involves making sound and sometimes difficult decisions, creating and articulating a clear vision, establishing achievable goals and providing followers with the necessary knowledge to achieve the desired goals. And if I talk about my leadership style, I try my best to establish a transparent and trustworthy communication environment for everyone who works with me, resolve conflicts between people at the earliest and give them equal opportunities to learn and grow. And when resources are scarce, I allot them very carefully after analysing all the involved risk factors. 

In your opinion, what makes the education industry the best industry to work with?

"Our contribution to develop nation by educating youths of our society is best reason to join it"

In my opinion, the education industry is the best industry to work with because it offers you new challenges and opportunities everyday which will ultimately enhance your knowledge and perspectives towards different things. And also you get to work in a wide variety of sectors from teaching to training and finance to human resources. In addition to this, the most proud thing is that you get to teach the future generation of the country and can always learn from your students as well. Overall a teacher adheres to the role of both a mentor and a learner.

How does your work impact the growth of Sangam University?

"I believe my work impact institute growth a lot and hence I keep upgrading myself regularly"

Being an integral member of the Sangam University, I regularly keep myself updated with the latest trends in the education and pharmacy world in addition to teaching approaches. Because for me my students' satisfaction is most crucial and when they will be given the finest quality education, it will automatically enhance the reputation of our college in the outside world. 

What career opportunities are available for students having Degree in Pharmacy in the outside world?

"Career opportunities are limitless and they can go for various fields such as HP, VP or IP"

In today's time, Pharmacy graduates have a wide range of career opportunities available. And after successfully pursuing a UG course in Pharmacy, they can join fields such as Hospital Pharmacy, Community Pharmacy, Retail Pharmacy, Industrial Pharmacy, Veterinary Pharmacy, Social/Administrative Pharmacy, Pharmacy Journalism or the Academia as well.

What options are available for those students who don't want to pursue a career in the Pharmacy field?

"Such students can join different sectors of medical field such as Nursing and HM"

Limitless opportunities are present in the outside world for such students who have other plans in mind instead of pursuing a career in the field of Pharmacy. They can join sectors like Nursing, Phlebotomy, Hospital Management or can also work as Lab Technicians.

How do you use the immense knowledge and experience you have gained, for the growth of students?

"I use my past experiences, knowledge and a blend of latest technologies to teach students"

I firmly believe that when teachers work together to improve their knowledge and skills, they offer best to their students. This simple yet powerful idea is very effective to make great impacts on an institution. And being an integral member of this university, I always give my best to train newcomers and juniors by using my past experiences and knowledge, so that they can improve at both fronts personally as well as professionally.

What kind of placement and higher studies opportunities does your university provide to students?

"We provide real time learning exposure to students in collaboration with various hospitals"

Our University has tied up with various hospitals and pharmaceutical industries for the purpose of offering real-time exposure to students and helping them to learn how to handle patients in hospitals. And as far as higher education is concerned, our university is planning to bring a postgraduate program in the discipline of Pharmacy. 

What significant difference have you observed between the education industry of your time and today?

"Technologies have been incorporated into education and it has made many things easier for us"

In my opinion drastic changes have taken place as compared to my time in the education industry. Due to the introduction of the internet and latest technologies, more weightage is being given to virtual learning nowadays where you can do certification and Degree courses from the comfort of your home. And instead of theoretical knowledge, emphasis is being given on Concept-Based learning where more experiments are conducted to strengthen students' concepts and make them learn new things. 

Any message which you would like to give to the family of your students?

"Take care of your childrens and give them such environment which can flourish their passion"

As we all know that if a plant is carefully nurtured by a gardener, it will produce better fruits and the same way we should give good care to our childrens for their overall development. And our university has created a favorable environment so that students can grow. We would like to assure you that we will meet expectations of yours and your children.

Any feedback which you would like to share with the new generation coming forward?

"Be determined towards your goals and don't affect yourself due to other's opinions"

I would like to advise my students and youths of our society to keep working hard and dream more because your hard work, dedication and perseverance will help you achieve your goals. Don't let anybody destroy your peace of mind and always do those things in which you are really passionate about. In addition to this, be proactive, take responsibility for your actions and keep motivating yourself and lastly don't let fear of failure consume you and take risks. Because If you want to touch the sky, you will face failures multiple times at different stages.
