AS
Abhay Sukla Posted On : September 23rd, 2020
Sharda University (2019)

Sharda University is a fair option if you want to pursue your B.Tech in IT. Almost all the colleges have the same curriculum and course, the difference lies in the type of placements and opportunities offered by the University. The Engineering department of Sharda University is not at all in comparison with those of IITs, yet, it is not that bad.

Rankings:

  • The University is ranked at #151 out of 200 Top Private Colleges in India 2020 by NIRF.

  • It has also been rated #26 out of 50 Top Universities in India, 2020 by ARIIA.

Fee Structure:

  • The average fee per year for B.Tech in IT at Sharda University falls somewhere near Rs. 1,59,000/- per year.

  • The Hostel Fee is Rs. 1,36,000 per year for boys and Rs. 1,55,000/- per year for girls.

Campus Life:

  • Campus Life of Sharda University is one of the driving factors that lures students to the college. It has a very social life.

  • There are various eating joints present at the campus. Various sports and extracurricular activities are performed as well.

  • Every department has its own set of a library with the most important books present there.

Placements:

  • Students are allowed to sit for placements post their seventh semester.

  • Given that Sharda is a private university, it doesn’t disappoint in terms of placement opportunities. Rather, various top tier firms like Byju’s, Amazon, Audi, L&T, etc visited the campus this year.

  • 91% of the students receive B.Tech placement offers.

  • The highest package offered to the students was 10 lakh per annum whereas the average package was 3 lakhs per annum.

  • The placement rate for Sharda University is 60%.

Therefore, these were enough reasons to state that Sharda University is a good choice for B.Tech in IT and the type of personality development offered by it, is sometimes not even offered by the top IITs or NITs.

How is BIET, Jhansi for IT?

MD
Megha Deb Posted On : February 19th, 2021
Studied at Bundelkhand Institute Of Engineering And Technology (2018)

BIET Jhansi is an institution known for the fact that their students are capable enough to study and learn about the subjects all by themselves. The college encourages the fact that the students need little to no guidance from the institute itself. My sister was pursuing CS from BIET and she mentioned that the IT branch in the college is self-financed.

Students aiming for better salary packages and job opportunities have to work hard on their own. The complete dependence on the institute without much of your effort, will only provide you with the basic and comparatively lower salary package of 3 LPA.

If you are planning to have a bright future in the IT field, it is a good idea for you to start learning and practicing all the coding languages beforehand and try attempting beginner level problems as well.

Moreover, please note that IT is one branch which needs a little more dedication and sincerity as compared to the other branches of engineering studies. Hence, whatever college/university you choose for IT, hard work and interest will push you to do your best.

Can I expect IEM Kolkata IT with rank 6k? How is IEM IT? What are the highest and average packages?

AS
Ankita Seal Posted On : April 27th, 2022
B.Tech from Institute of Engineering and Management (2020)

Yes, you can get IEM Kolkata with a rank of 6k. In 2021, the closing cutoff for the IT branch was 2483-8457.

IEM Kolkata is an average college. The academics and facilities offered aren’t good for IT. Alumni of the institute who are well-established in the IT sector received the opportunities based on their talent and expertise. If you have other better options, you should choose them over IEM.

As per the recent placement highlights, IEM Kolkata average CTC was INR 5-6 LPA. While the highest CTC offered to the student of this branch was INR 42 LPA.

Is doing an integrated course from IIITM Gwalior worth it?

RP
Reshmi Poddar Posted On : September 21st, 2020
M.Tech Digital Communicatiom, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior (2018)

It depends on what you want to do in the future. If you are interested in pursuing post-doctoral studies, then pursuing 5 years of integrated course from IIITM Gwalior has more pros than cons, thus it's totally worth it. If your aim is to pursue higher studies abroad by clearing GRE then it's better to go for a 4-year course.

IIITM Gwalior is one of the 3 institutions in India with 100% Ph.D. faculties. Ranked 100 for engineering by NIRF in 2020, IITM has overall 262 Integrated seats which are comparatively higher than other reputed institutes.

Admission:

  • IIITM Gwalior accepts only JEE Main ranking for the admission process.

  • Securing the rank within 7213-14442 in JEE Main will fetch admission in IIITM Gwalior.

  • For general (PWD) category 347-462 bust the ranking in order to secure a seat in B.Tech + M.Tech integrated course.

  • Aspirants of OBC (Non-creamy layer) must secure a rank between 3,800-6300 for the integrated B.Tech + M.Tech courses and rank of 4737-7903 for B.Tech + MBA Integrated course.

  • The admission process is carried through JoSAA Counselling and CSAB Special Round.

  • IIITM Gwalior offers 262 seats for the integrated courses with the yearly Tuition fee of 84,325.

Campus:

  • Amidst the picturesque landscape in the foothills of Gwalior fort, the IIITM campus is spread across 160 acres.

  • The campus is equipped with all required facilities for the overall development of students; a huge central library, department libraries, study rooms, well-equipped labs, indoor badminton courts are few to name.

  • There are 30+ labs, amazing infrastructure with air-conditioned classrooms, libraries with thousands of standard books per branch, hostel facilities, food court.

Placement statistics:

  • 400+ companies participate in the recruitment process every year. Top recruiters include Amazon, Expedia, IBM, TCS, HCL, DELL, Paytm, Myntra.

  • 90% of the students get placed at top companies with an average salary of 14.58 LPA.

  • The highest domestic CTC offered in 2020 is 42 LPA.

  • 150+ students were recruited on campus in 2020, with Infosys and Cognizant offering the maximum offers.

lITM Gwalior is best for integrated courses. But in the end, it's the student's priority which matters. The deciding factor will be the course that you are opting for and future goals.

B.Tech Petroleum, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Gandhinagar (2019)

If you choose Electrical Engineering (EE) in PDPU, then you will definitely get a job, as this institute has a better EE department. But you must maintain your CGPA of approximately 9. One of my friends has studied in this institute, and he told me that it is easy enough to maintain this score in PDPU.

In the following, a brief overview has been given, considering these two institutes.

BVM

PDPU

Highest CTC

18 LPA

19.20 LPA

Lowest CTC

2 LPA

3-4 LPA

Average CTC

However, if you get selected in MNCs (IT and corporate jobs), they may bore you after a few years. So, if you desire to pursue your career in this field or want some experience, you can select a stream based on their preferences. However, my friend studied Petroleum Engineering (B.Tech) in 2015-2019 from PDPU.
