What is the cutoff for IBS Hyderabad through NMAT?

IBS Hyderabad follows a profile-based admissions process, evaluating the candidate's potential fit, consistent academic performance, and work experience for admission into its MBA program. This leads to a good batch profile and peer learning opportunities.

For the NMAT exam, the historical cut-off score has been around 200. However, even if your score is slightly lower, you can still apply and be considered based on your profile. You can also apply using other exam scores such as CAT or XAT.

Please note that the latest trend in the NMAT exam has resulted in inflated scores, with the cut-off increasing by over 30 points. Thus, the figure of 200 is based on the most recent NMAT trends.

I have got 67 percentile in IBSAT. Do I have any chance to get IBS Hyderabad?

Your IBSAT score is not the only determining factor for admission to IBS Hyderabad. Your performance in the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds, as well as your academic background, will also be considered. It is advisable to prepare well for these rounds.

However, the return on investment (ROI) at IBS Hyderabad is relatively low. During the 2022 placement season, the college recorded a placement rate of 99%. The average package offered was INR 8.71 LPA, with the highest international and domestic packages being INR 53.45 LPA and INR 21 LPA, respectively. Despite these strong numbers, the cost of studying at IBS Hyderabad is relatively high, with students expected to spend 16 to 18 lakhs on their education.

Additionally, given that the college enrolls over 1200 students each year, competition for placements and other opportunities is intense. One advantage of studying at IBS Hyderabad is the opportunity to network with a diverse group of students from all over India. Whether you are able to fully take advantage of these opportunities will depend on your individual initiative and effort.

How is ITM Mumbai compared to IBS Hyderabad?

ITM Mumbai is a good option for a sales profile. Since I don’t know your specialization it’s difficult to say which is a better option for you. Even your percentile would have helped me make a better choice for you.

I would suggest you take a drop year and attempt CAT again to minimize risk as much as possible. Another option is making a LinkedIn profile and chatting with alumni of the respective college, especially in the field you are interested in. Check the job stability in that specific field and match it with your profile and expectations.

It’s better to invest hugely and get a lifetime career rather than just getting a degree and an uncertain job profile of 100% placement.

Should I join IBS Hyderabad, XIME Bangalore, or take CAT again?

My friend was in a similar dilemma and eventually went for XIME Bangalore. She made this decision as she was strongly against the extremely rigorous campus life of IBS Hyderabad. The huge batch size leaves little opportunity for the average student and you have to compete with thousands and it’s not worth it. Also, the quality of education suffers as a result of the huge batch size.

You should go for TAPMI as it requires work experience and honestly, re-attempting is not a wise decision when you can’t really predict your future. So it’s best to grab the opportunity at hand and make the best use out of it

What is the percentile cutoff for IBS Hyderabad with respect to the IBSAT percentile?

Firstly, ISB Hyderabad has no cutoff whatsoever. In fact, the marks of ISBAT and individual subjects are not revealed ever. The eligible candidates directly receive a call inviting them to the GD-PI process. So attempting the test with full confidence and preparation is more than enough to get the call. Since there is no negative marking you can attempt as many questions as possible.

The main struggle starts post-ISBAT if you get selected for GD-PI. From around 20000 shortlisted candidates only 1200 are selected for the main campus. So instead of ISBAT, your main focus should be on preparing for the GD-PI round. Anyone with decent aptitude skills can get shortlisted but only a few who have an extraordinary profile and stand out from the crowd can get selected during the GD-PI process.
