Is it possible to get a seat for PG at AIIMS Delhi in radiology for a doctor who got an MBBS degree from PGIMS Rohtak or another state medical college?

Mousumi Chatterjee Posted On : November 9th, 2021
Yes it is possible. There are a lot of mediocre students who evolve with time and end up cracking IIT or AIIMS. AIIMS conducts an entrance exam every 6 months for entry into its MD, MS courses.  You can regularly visit the exam portal of AIIMS to check for all the details regarding exam pattern, eligibility, seat distribution, registration for the exam, and other details.  They also release exam notifications in newspapers. AIIMS generally reserves 50% of its PG seats for its internal candidates (those who have pursued their MBBS from AIIMS), which doesn't mean external candidates don't stand a chance. Since MD radiology at AIIMS, New Delhi is your target, you will require a rank in top 3-5 to secure a place in MD radiology. It might be the toughest exam but it is not impossible. Try dedicating more time preparing for this, which might give you positive results.

If an MBBS graduate is having an option of choosing between AIIMS NIMHANS MCh neurosurgery 6yr course then which institute is the best to opt to? What is the advantage of one over the other?

Sakshi Gupta Posted On : October 19th, 2021
This is a choice that can vary from individual to individual. It is each student’s unique preference of certain things like location, curriculum, alumni, crowd, etc. that influence their choices. One of my friends cleared both the entrance exams at the same time but opted for AIIMS over NIMHANS, due to its location. Being a North Indian he felt it would be easier to blend in rather than getting accustomed to a new culture, food or place. Also, he mentioned that the Neurosurgery course will only provide an McH degree and no MS degree. This was also another concern for him and why he in the end went for AIIMS. Therefore, you should think clearly and point out all the pros and cons of these institutions. Check which one is satisfying all your requirements and then go for it. Both AIIMS and NIMHANS are reputed institutions, graduating from any of them will prove to be great for your career. If you are North Indian go for AIIMS, if South Indian opt for NIMHANS.

Which college is better for an MCh Neurosurgery AIIMS Delhi or NIMHANS?

Sakshi Gupta Posted On : October 19th, 2021
This is very difficult to differentiate, as both of them are hugely notable for Neurosurgery. But like every other institution, they also have their fair share of pros and cons. Let me discuss some facts about both the institutes, analyzing which you can make your final decision. AIIMS has given many good Neurosurgeons. It has a high credibility value. It has got a dedicated trauma centre, cadaveric training and research facility, neurosurgical education and training school, and animal dissection lab. NIMHANS is a dedicated mental health and neurosciences institute.  It has got NBRC - Neuro-Biology Research Centre which provides proper infrastructure for research and technology advancement. There is no difference in the quality of work, patient management protocol, etc. at both institutes. The only thing bothering the students of AIIMS is the increase in faculty members. This divides the surgical work and less share comes on part of residents. NIMHANS has fewer faculty members as compared to AIIMS. You can also choose the college favoring your location. North Indians generally opt for AIIMS while South Indians will go for NIMHANS. Ultimately, it depends on the student’s choice, because both the institutions are equally good. But a university name does not matter, it might give you the first push but after that your training and your work will speak for themselves.

How was your AIIMS Delhi freshers party 2021?

AN
Aaditya Hari Nair Posted On : October 13th, 2021
Freshers' party is the best party you will ever witness at AIIMS Delhi. It has a lot of fun, and the entire day and night are full of energy. The program usually begins with everyone wearing formals and going in batches to watch videos of their time at AIIMS up to this point. One of my friends is presently studying at the institute. For his Fresher’s party, the institute organized dinner which was very delicious. Following that, there was a couple of dance in which the couples were chosen at random using chits. Other activities include a ramp walk and talent round. You will be surprised to see the hidden talents of your classmates.  In the end, a normal award ceremony will be there to announce Ms. and Mr. Freshers.

AN
Aaditya Hari Nair Posted On : October 13th, 2021
No one can tell the exact marks as AIIMS does not reveal the actual score of any person. It only releases a percentile. However, there are certain criteria for marks to get you in AIIMS Delhi. A score of 145-150 is considered safe for admission to AIIMS New Delhi, whereas a score of 155-160 is considered the safest. With this score, your admission is guaranteed. However, it is not easy because as competition is increasing day by day, only your hard work and dedication can get you in.

Why do AIIMS Delhi students get a very short percentage in an MBBS even though they are intelligent?

Debdeep Majumder Posted On : October 13th, 2021
Your intelligence is determined by your hard work. Even if you have an IQ of 200 and do not work hard, you can still fail MBBS. Medicine, in general, is a test of determination, patience, and perseverance rather than intelligence. Overall it all depends on you, if you don’t study, your IQ won’t help you pass your exams.

How can I get in AIIMS Delhi?

AN
Aaditya Hari Nair Posted On : October 13th, 2021
This is one of the prominent questions that any medical student asks. AIIMS Delhi, being a prestigious institute, is a dream for many but it is not easy to secure a seat there.  To begin with, the entrance exam for AIIMS is regarded as one of the most difficult exams throughout the country. It has higher-level questions that cannot be answered without a thorough understanding of the concept.  Students usually overlook NCERT because they believe the notes provided in coaching are adequate. But NCERT contains some key concepts that are not always included in the notes, and a thorough reading of them is required.  In AIIMS's viewpoint, the Section "Points to Ponder" in NCERT’s Physics is worth reading. In addition to PCB, the exam also has a GK section. Read current affairs typically from 3-4 months before the exam. Solve previous year’s JEE Main and JEE Advanced papers as the questions for Physics are seen Aside from coaching notes and question practice, the Lab Manual for Chemistry should also be read for practical-based questions.  Try to solve basic Mental Ability books from publications such as MTG or Arihant. These types of questions are asked at a very basic level.  Overall, the exam requires the following skills: Concepts, Speed, Accuracy, Consistency, Presence of Mind, and good honest preparation.

What is the preparation strategy of AIIMS Delhi?

AN
Aaditya Hari Nair Posted On : October 11th, 2021
My friend wanted to study in his state college. After the NEET exam, my friend cross-checked her answers and was sure to get a state college. She decided to give her best for AIIMS too and made it to AIIMS! Don't feel pressured, simply, perform your best!  Here are some preparation tips:  Practice 'Assertion-Reason' questions, they are a major factor in deciding rank. Attempt them before any other because Assertion Reason questions require a fresh mind and patience and should not be left for the end. There will be negative marking, so stay clear of that. AIIMS entrance has more negative marking than NEET.  Finally, be patient. Even if the paper is tough, don't overthink it. You will get what you practiced for two years. Don't keep unnecessary deadlines. Just give your best and all the best will come to you.
