Is NIT Puducherry for ECE better than IIITDM Kancheepuram for mechanical?

AG
Adrija Ghose Posted On : September 21st, 2022
BE Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering Guindy, Tamil Nadu, India

IIITDM Kancheepuram Mechanical is better in comparison. The department has four branches under the norms of Design and Manufacturing. The academics are practical-oriented. IIITDM follows an updated curriculum that is different from the traditional course structure of most engineering colleges. The Mechanical faculties are great. Most of them have PhDs qualifications from reputed IITs and NITs.

IIITDM Kancheepuram placements are good for Mechanical. Students of the branch get recruited as Project leads, Supervisors,  Design Operators, etc. The average CTC for the branch is around INR 7 LPA.

How are EEE and ECE trades at NIT Jamshedpur?

AS

What your preference is and what interests you, these two are very important at making the right choice.

If any of the two branches is of your preference and interest, then you should go for it.

If you have no such preferences and interests and you are only looking at the job prospects after graduating, then I would suggest you consider the following things:

  • Government and Public Sector: These sectors provide more jobs in the electrical field. If you secure a decent GATE score, you will get a lot of interview opportunities in the PSUs. Indian Engineering Services is also an option that has more job opportunities in the electrical branch than the electronic branch. There are very limited opportunities for electronics in the public sector.
  • Private Sector: It is the opposite here. The electronics sector is much ahead in the private sector. You will find a lot of companies providing good salary packages in electronics than electrical. However, the job is not core electronics but software profile.
  • Faculty: The faculty at NIT Jamshedpur is better in the electrical branch than the electronic branch.
  • Laboratories: Electrical branch has better labs than the electronic branch.
  • Academic Curriculum: Electrical branch has a lot more pressure than the electronic branch. A few senior faculty members of the electrical branch will make you cry while in the electronic branch, you can secure good marks even by studying less.

All these are relevant factors to keep in mind before making a choice. Now, the choice is yours.

How is ECE at IIIT Ranchi?

KS
Krishna Srivastava Posted On : March 23rd, 2021
B.Tech from Indian institute of information technology, Ranchi

The ECE branch at IIIT Ranchi is not that good. IIIT Ranchi is also being shifted to a temporary campus in Ranchi very soon. In the new temporary campus, the distance between the hostel and the academic block will be 10-15 km.

  • The recruitment process for new faculties also is not fair. However, if you want to pursue pure ECE or CSE, the faculty quality is decent.
  • You will also need to keep a good relationship with the faculties to score well in the examination.
  • The placement statistics also are not that good. With a batch size of 120-150, it will be quite difficult too. The batch intake is also likely to increase to 180.

It is very unlikely that IIIT Ranchi will have a permanent campus any time soon. So, it will be better if you don’t go for IIIT Ranchi.

B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering, National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (2018)

ECE has more job opportunities than Mechanical Engineering. After completing Mechanical Engineering, you will get jobs in PSUs, in government organizations.

  • If you are looking for a job after B.Tech or M.Tech then ECE will be a good option for you.
  • But if you want to pursue higher studies and looking to go into a research field then choose according to your interest.

In the following table, you will get basic information about Mechanical at NIT Calicut and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.

Category NIT Jamshedpur ECE NIT Calicut Mechanical
Fees INR 1.88 Lakh (1st Year) INR 1.25 Lakh
Recruiters Amazon, Unacademy, Global Logic, Humming Wave, etc. Cognizant, Samsung, Accolite, Aditya Birla Capital, etc.
Average CTC INR 4.5 LPA INR. 7.40 LPA

Which is better for ECE NIT Jalandhar or NIT Kurukshetra?

SG
Saksham Gupta Posted On : December 6th, 2022
B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IITRPR) (Graduated 2021)

In my opinion, NIT Kurukshetra is better than NIT Jalandhar. Some strong points that support my opinion are:

  • The new director at NIT Kurukshetra has brought about a spike in the rankings of the institute. Reputed firms visit the campus for placements.

  • Before the reign of the new director, ECE from NIT Kurukshetra was considered a difficult task. But now things have changed for the better. You can pass your exams by studying hard and scoring well. The results are no more unpredictable.

  • The infrastructure is top notch and the labs are well-equipped with costly software. If you are motivated enough you can develop good skills here.

A major shortcoming of this NIT is its faculty. Some professors are really good while some even lack the basics. You might get frustrated but remember you need to keep yourself motivated to succeed.

One of my friends is a local of Jharkhand. He was eligible to get into all departments and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur except CSE, and he got into the same situation where he had to choose between IT at IIEST Shibpur and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.

He chose IT at IIEST Shibpur and was satisfied with his decision. IIEST has a good campus which is given the INI tag, their seniors are also very good who motivate their juniors.

In the following table, you will get information on IT at IIEST Shibpur and ECE at NIT Jamshedpur.

Category

IIEST Shibpur

NIT Jamshedpur

Fees

INR 71000

INR 7.16 Lakh

Amazon, Deloitte, Bajaj Auto, Wipro Turbo, Vedanta, etc.

Lowest package

INR 2.53 LPA

INR 3 LPA

Highest package

INR 40 LPA

INR 30 LPA

Completed with a good campus, great seniors, and recently been given the INI tag, it has the energy and enthusiasm to excel and the Director of IIEST is a great person. He works hard to improve the place.

Many of my friends study at NIT Jamshedpur. It has a good infrastructure but not in better condition. Newly constructed hostels at NIT are also good. But officials of NIT are not promising.

Therefore, IIEST Shibpur is a better choice as it will give you many opportunities and give you a better experience.

Which would be a wiser decision: CSE in Mizoram University or ECE in Heritage Institute of technology?

RD
Rohan Das Posted On : January 20th, 2022
studied at Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata (2019)

Among both these institutes it will be better if you go for ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology (HIT) than CE at Mizoram University (MZU).

  • HIT provides students with better scope and opportunities for the future, be it placements or research.
  • The faculty members are highly experienced and very helpful.
  • HIT has one of the finest engineering labs with top notch facilities matching the latest industry trends and needs.
  • HIT has a partnership with TCS which conducts mass recruitments in the campus placement hiring the maximum number of students.
  • TCS offers students a salary package of 6-7 LPA.
  • Other than TCS, other reputed companies also participate in their placement program like Cognizant, Accenture, Wipro, HCL and many more.
  • The students with a good academic record receive a salary package of 15-20 LPA.
Categories ECE at Heritage Institute of Technology CE at Mizoram University
Course Fee INR 4.04 LPA INR 6.85 lakh
Placement Percentage 70-80% 50-60%
Highest CTC 28 LPA 10 LPA
Average CTC 8-10 LPA 3-5 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, HCL, etc. TCS, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Infosys, etc.

Therefore, as HIT provides such better opportunities for students it is recommended that you go for it rather than choosing MZU.
