LIFE AS AN NIFTIAN

Remarks :

For bachelor programs, the candidate's maximum age should be less than 24 years as of the 1st of August of the year of Admission. For design courses like Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, and Fashion Communication, a candidate must have cleared the +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized school/board/university in India or foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. For the Bachelor of Fashion Technology (Apparel Production) (B.F.Tech.) course, a candidate must have a passing grade +2 examination with physics and mathematics as their subjects.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I had a keen interest in fashion and wanted to do something which streamlined my science background. And I found this course exciting and challenging simultaneously, which made me choose this course. As the class strength is smaller in numbers, every permanent and guest faculty knows every student and tries to help everyone with their career. Most of the faculties are post-graduates, and some have doctorate affiliations they try to teach the students practical knowledge of the industry, which they have experienced firsthand during their careers. We have one mid-term examination, an end-term examination, and a final jury. We were evaluated based on our continuous progress throughout the semester.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

For my B.F.Tech. course, the fee is around 3 lakhs p.a. with a hike of 10% in the fee every year. They provide scholarships like the "SHARTHAK" NIFT financial assistance scheme and "UDAAN"-NIFT means-cum-merit scheme for foreign studies, which can be applied through their online portal.

Campus Life :

"CONVERGE" is NIFT's inter-campus fest where all the campus participates to win the most points in cultural, sports, and literary events. "SPECTRUM" is NIFT's inter-college fest, where students from different colleges participate in various events and have fun, and win exciting prizes. Various events occur throughout the year, making the place exciting. All the events are student-driven; students organize, manage and participate in the events under the supervision of the student council of NIFT. There are different clubs, and a yearly election takes place for the club's secretary and president positions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty has improved throughout the semesters in the case of graphic design. There are professors who have worked in the field and have knowledge of the industry in their own specializations. The course is very identical to other colleges in case of the curriculum. There is sufficient teaching faculty with respect to the number of students. The faculty is accessible the majority of the time and is ready to answer any queries regarding their subject. The exams are relatively more laid back in case of marking yet it still maintains the level according to the student's skills.

Placement Experience:

We will only know about the campus placements and packages offered this year as this is the first time a batch is graduating from this campus. The average package as we've heard is 8 lakhs per annum. The Pune campus is older and it's said to have good placements as well so the same is expected here as well.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college has excellent faculty very friendly and cooperative and they only take students according to teacher and student ratio per teacher 2 - 3 students which is pretty good management is also pretty cooperative exams are not that hard if you have a nice portfolio and have previously prepared for design.

Placement Experience:

The placements are decent. As mentioned, they bring in corporate companies rather than design studios, so it is a given that you get a good salary. The placements department coordinates through email and you have to do tasks and interviews until finally get the job. A lot of students apply on their own too though.
