Remarks :

After completing graduation you can pursue an MA. If you had Bengali as a pass subject you can still opt for MA. You can come from another background like you may have Hons in History/English/ Sanskrit etc. The main criterion is to complete graduation. But students must apply within 3 years of their graduation. For example, I took admitted in 2021. Students who graduated in 2019,2020 & 2022 will be valid but 2018 passed-out students are invalid. The university fee is around Rs 5000-5500 for every semester. University does not take any admission test. Merit lists are published based on graduation & higher secondary marks. the more marks you got the higher your percentage of chance of getting admission. You have to apply from WBSU official website. As soon as you appear on the list you have to pay the fee. On the very next day, you must visit for offline verification. Otherwise, the application will be canceled. Reservation seats are available too

Course Curriculum Overview :

After completing my BA I thought MA would be more valuable for my career as I want to be a professor. So that's why I have chosen this course. We have a total of 5 faculties in our department and near about 60+ students in our batch. So the student-faculty ratio is around one professor per 12 students. All of our faculties are very good. They are qualified and have been teaching for years. Our HOD is very good & friendly to all the students. She always has a smile on her face. Our faculties always elaborately teach every topic. They organize some seminars too. We had to give one semester every 6 months. Exams are easy to pass if anyone studies regularly. But we have a lot of papers and practical projects to complete. Sometimes it becomes hectic & boring.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The cost of study here is around Rs 20000 for the complete 2-year MA course. We had not given any extra fee other than this. For every semester the fee is around 5000. It varies semester-wise. We have many scholarship opportunities to apply for. But the biggest cons of our university is that they do not allow multiple scholarships at the same time. So please apply for only one scholarship. Otherwise, you will not receive any. This thing happened to one of my friends. He applied for SVMCM, OASIS & JINDAL. So, I highly advise applying for SMCM only. You will get 24000 for each year. But in the 2nd year, you have to keep a minimum of 55% marks.

Campus Life :

We have a small celebration of fresher's welcome in our department. I have witnessed Holi Utsav in our college. It was organized by the student union. In our Bengali department, we also organized some cultural functions on 21 Feb as it is our mother language day. We celebrated Rabindra Jayanti and Netaji Jayanti. Saraswati Puja is also organized in rich attire. Our library room is one of the best. It is so well organized and colorful. All the books are kept in a row of colorful bookshelves. and there is so much wide space for studying. In a corner, there have multiple computers to complete the project. Our classroom is very good. The room has big windows and glasses. It is very airy and clean. All the benches and tables everything is new. We have a very big ground where students play football and cricket. On our campus, we play badminton. annual sports programs are organized each year. We have a Wi-Fi facility and a greener campus.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I love geography since my school days. I am a topper in geography subject in my school days. And in arts, only geography is the subject which has other career options rather than the teaching profession. In this university, the faculty is extremely good. And they are very supportive towards students. They try to help the student as possible as they can. There are no off classes. All the professors take classes timely.

Placement Experience:

Placements are quite average as compared to MBA students. From 2nd-semester students become eligible to sit for the placements. Companies like CRISIL, KPMG, EY, NielsenIQ, Accenture, and American express visited our campus for the placements. The highest package offered was Rs.21 lakhs and the average is 10 lakhs. Only 25-30 students were placed out of the batch of 70 students. My plan after getting the degree would be to get a corporate job with the profile of an analyst.

Course Curriculum Overview:

When I was a geography student and learned about area studies I was keen on learning about areas and strategic Area studies. There are 6 faculty members from different disciplines of geography history sociology international relations anthropology. The total no of students capacity is 27 but till now there are 15 students studying this discipline. The teachers are very good from different disciplines and there is a lot of friendly relationship between students and teachers. The subject is of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary characteristics. It is really helpful in cracking civil services and conducting research as well
