The surreal life of DAV College

Remarks :

There was this combined form for all the colleges under Panjab University's affiliation. Other than that there was this entrance test called PU-CET which was mandatory for admission. The criteria for admission to these colleges were based on the marks scored in class 12

Course Curriculum Overview :

I chose this course because I want to pursue my career in the following field, I want to go in the research field that's why I chose BSc. The student ratio according to me would be 40:60 because girls generally do go with this field. The staff I got for my class is very experienced and well equipped with all the knowledge. And the exams were not that difficult to pass but still, the level was high.

Placement Experience :

Students can go for placements in their last and second last semesters. Many renowned companies have visited us and several offers have been made in the past. The highest package for my course would have been 100K. 60-70 per cent of students go for placements. I'll have my masters in the same subject and look for research-based specialisations.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure is different for different courses. My semester tution fee was 25000 which is quite nominal as compared to other professional courses that we have in college. Other than that college is based run by Arya Samaj so scholarships and all recessions can be done by their committee.

Campus Life :

We just had our college fest. Usually, it takes place at the University but this time it happened at our college. It was a mega event we had this new Auditorium built for it. The campus is very nice, open and peaceful. There are places for students to relax and have food. And there is the library where we all study. The sports committee is very active here. We have a cricket ground where regular practice sessions take place. One handball court basketball gymnasium shooting range and a badminton court too. There are several clubs that are by students themselves one of them is Lahsya a dance club it's very famous in the region

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facilities are pretty decent now. The room I've got has an almirah with one tube light. I personally feel there should have been more than one tube light or atleast a bulb. Other than that I feel that the washrooms should be cleaner and have warm water for the winters as well My college is in Sector 10 and the neighbouring sectors like 16, 15, 14, 11 etc provide pg and rented rooms

In the final year of their course, students are eligible to apply to the companies which come to the college for hiring students Companies like dr morepen , Cadbury, Microtech, etc. About 60 to 70 percent of students get placed through companies visit in the campus But I had not applied at the time of graduation because I want to do a master's in applied chemistry so now I'm pursuing a master's in applied chemistry and after this, I'll do phd.

Placement Experience:

Our college does work with some of the major recruiting companies worldwide. The IT sectors and commerce sectors do get good placements. But in general, the placement might not be that good for everyone since it's not on that level as of now.
