The wonder that is JNU

Remarks :

After my 12th board exams, I applied to some colleges (the University of Delhi and Jawahar Lal Nehru University). The University of Delhi offered a variety of courses but gave admission based on board exams. I scored 92.2% on my boards and was getting into many colleges, but I opted for JNU which gave admission based on JNUEE (entrance exam held by JNU, now under CUET). In my, College Reservation is given based on central government rules. Apart from the normal reservation, JNU provides 6 marks for students from backward districts across India. The admission process is largely flexible and smooth. Seniors and student organizations are quite helpful while the admission process and throughout college life. I would surely recommend JNU to all the students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

French is a global language and has lots of job prospects. This very fact attracted my attention to this course. Every class has around 30-35 students. Teachers are always available to help in academic as well as nonacademic fields. All the professors have Ph.D., mostly from JNU. Apart from them, Ph.D. scholars from the center also take some classes. All the professors are very cool. They don't just help and support in academic fields but also help us in our overall development. They provide support and guidance. Before every semester, a calendar is issued, and the semester runs as per it. Exams are held accordingly.

Placement Experience :

JNU has enough scope for placement however most students often opt for research rather than getting an early job. Placement-related info has been mentioned earlier. I am planning to do a master's in sociology from jnu itself because lately, the subject has been exciting me.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure policy is good. Semester registration fee is around? 200. Hostel registration fee is around? 1500. And apart from it, the mess charge per month is around? 3000. College also provides MCM scholarships to students (?2000 per month in the academic calendar). Also, students often do part-time jobs while in college. After the course is completed, many students opt to study abroad and some even get jobs in their respective countries as per their languages. Also, MNCs like Amazon and Flipkart often hire students from JNU.

Campus Life :

In my college, various cultural fest goes on across the year. Lok beyond folk to mosaic and so on. Recently the campus hosted an international food festival. Norteast cultural program, tribal fest, and so on. Apart from this every Centre, as well as every hostel, gives freshers to the newly admitted students. These have DJ night at the end which is memorizing. 9 floored library hosts so many many many books that one can read all through his life. All 9 floor has millions of books. Also, there's a study hall for students.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel facility is okay. Most of the hostels are old and are undergoing renovations. Mess food is healthy and good in quality as well as quantity. Registration is done on a semester basis and the process is smooth. All the students are provided with hostels however rooms can be rented in munirka.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I was from PCM (science) background in 12th board and I literally wanted to shift in the course of the art. And science students always look for what best subject in art which is ECONOMICS and we choose this. And the second reason is Economics is something challenging and It provides you to think bigger and know about the money and market. So these are the reason I selected this course. My class has 40 students and except for the Micro teacher, No one teaches very well. We are the first batch of CUET and we just got approx. 3 months to prepare for the semester with an increase in the subject. So that is always hard when you are getting experimented with new things.

Placement Experience:

Students from 2nd year or 5th semester are eligible for pre-placement offers. However, 1st-year students are eligible for internship opportunities only. Around 40 companies visited campus with their placement offers for Bcom. Hons, Bcom, B.A Hons Economics, & some BSc courses. Companies included some Big4 companies like KPMG, Deloitte, E&Y, Wipro, HCL & many more. My plan after getting the degree is to go for MBA or MA in Economics.

Students become eligible from the 6th sem to sit for placements. Companies offering 6 lac to 37 lac visit the campus every year. I was placed in a multinational company with a very good package. People from stats maths and eco courses have higher chances of placement though.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

All faculty members were helpful throughout the course and encouraged me to excel in other domains as well. But some teachers just didn't care about the students and were attending classes just for the sake of it. My college was a girl college and there were some male and more female faculty members. Exams were conducted according to the academic calendar released by the college before the start of the semester.
