Hostel:

It is quite difficult to get an accommodation. For me the problem was I am a PhD student but, I get paid so then they are like since you have the money, you should be able to afford any accommodation. I think because I came during Covid time so, it was a lot more difficult.

Campus Life:

The campus life and study infrastructure is very good. Its superb. The only thing is that we have to balance the things well. The campus facilities were superb in the online also. Everything was available online. There is one library opened 24*7. The technology for presentation, attendance etc. is very good. There were many societies more than 50-60 societies regarding sports, cultural society, there was Bollywood dance society, polo society, chess society and many more. I was the part of consultancy and finance society, there was student union dedicated to students.

Hostel:

CMU does not offer on campus housing for grad students. It is only for undergrad. There is this website called apartments.com. I found this house through that. This is a really cool house. It is a two bed two bath apartment. We have got an underground gym. There are a couple of rooftop decks. It is very spacious. Our rent is $2115 plus utilities. My share essentially ends up around $920 a month plus utilities.

Because it was a Russel group uni and research is important/ what I want to do, it also specializes in semiconductors which I wanted to do and it was the best I got an offer for based on my predicted A-level grades.

It is a Russel group university and I am interested in semiconductors which it specializes in as there are a large group and a lot of funding going into this and it was far from where I was living which was a benefit for me.

I love the city! It is quite near my home but far enough away that it feels away but still, I can be home if I need to! I also think the course is really good here for what I wanted to do (eg a year in the industry that counts towards a degree).
