Krishna University is a deemed University imparting professional/non-professional education, research and training since 2008. The University has an enormous campus with 38 affiliated colleges and 2 study centres. In addition to under-graduate (UG) and post-graduate (PG) courses, the university also offers research programmes. 

Krishna University offers M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs in the following disciplines:

Candidates can register for admission by filling-in the online application form and submitting it along with the required processing fee within the stipulated time. Admission to the M.Phil. And Ph.D. programmes is done on the basis of performance in the entrance examination conducted by the university/ UGC NET/ GATE/ JRF/ SLET/ CSIR/ ICAR/ ICSSR /FIP followed by an interview.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed the PG examination in the concerned subject with at least 55% of marks on the aggregate (50% marks in case of SC/ST Candidates)/ equivalent grade point average (GPA) from the KU or any other recognized university recognized as equivalent thereto by the competent authority.
  • In the case of allied subjects, the concerned Boards of Studies (BOS) have to determine the eligibility for admission into research program (Ph.D./M.Phil.). The decision of the Boards would be approved by the concerned competent bodies.
  • Candidates need to qualify the entrance test conducted by KU for getting admission to the research programs. However if the candidate has hold of M.Phil. degree/ qualified in UGC NET/GATE/JRF/SLET/CSIR/ICAR/ICSSR /FIP ,he/she can be admitted at any time of the academic year into M.Phil./PhD programmes on the basis of an interview only.
  • Candidates  working as Project Fellows and Research Assistants in the projects sponsored by the national/state and public funding agencies  or working in National Laboratories-Institutes/Govt./Private Organization nominated/Sponsored by the respective employer are also exempted from the entrance examination if they have been at the rank of Assistant Director/or above.
  • Candidate who has worked as a teacher for at least 2 years in Krishna University or any other University recognized as equivalent there to by UGC or any affiliated professional or Post Graduate College, for at least 3 years in a recognized degree college / oriental college and for at least 4 years in a recognized Polytechnic or Junior college respectively are eligible for the Part time research programme.
  • Candidates who have been in other service for not less than ten years and having an aptitude for research are also eligible for the part time research programme (Ph.D. /M.Phil.)

Admission Process

  • Candidates will be selected for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D programme on the basis of their marks in entrance examination followed by an interview session.
  • However, if the candidate has hold of M.Phil. degree/ qualified in UGC NET/GATE/JRF/SLET/CSIR/ICAR ICSSR /FIP ,he/she can be admitted at any time of the academic year into the M.Phil/ Ph.D programmes on the basis of interview only.

How to Apply?

Candidates should register themselves for admission through the online registration process available at the official university website. Duly filled-in applications should be submitted along with the processing fee within the stipulated time. Candidates must also attend the interview for the said course at the notified date, time and place.

  • Download the application form available at the official website
  • Fill-in the application form completely with all the relevant details
  • Completed applications should be submitted along with necessary enclosures and required application fee in the form of Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of ‘The Registrar, Krishna University, Machilipatnam’ and payable at Machilipatnam.
