Assam University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for PhD admission at Assam University, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master's degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a related field.
  • Candidates who have cleared a four paper M.Phil. course work with at least 55 % marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade or those who have already completed the course work in M.Phil. with at least an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent grade and have completed the M.Phil.
  • A student of Assam University, whose M.Phil. The dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending and may be admitted to the Ph.D. program of the University.
  • Candidates holding a Degree regarded equivalent to the M. Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency, shall be eligible.

Note: Relaxation of 5% of marks for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled

Assam University Admission Guidelines

  • Candidates must apply online through the official university website.
    • Register and fill the personal details and upload a scanned passport size photograph.
    • Pay the online application fee of INR 500 (INR 300 for SC/ ST/ PwD) and click on the “Submit” button.
    • After successful submission of the application form, an acknowledgement will be sent to the candidate’s registered email id.
    • Candidates can apply for a maximum of two courses only and a separate application has to be submitted for each course.
  • Candidates must then attend the university entrance exam (CRET)
  • The selected candidates will be uploaded on the university website.
