Goa University has 26 Departments and 2 Centres offering 33 programs leading to Masters degree, 21 programs leading to M.Phil. Degree and 25 programs leading to the Ph.D. degree in various disciplines.

- Admission to BA, B.Sc, B.Com, BCA, BBA, B.Li.Sc, B.Ed, LL.B and B.P.Ed courses is based on marks in the last qualifying examination.
- Candidates have to qualify in Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) to secure admission in various specializations of BE and B.Pharm programs.
- NATA is mandatory for admission to B.Arch.
- MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and B.Sc (Nursing) admission is offered on the basis of a valid score in NEET UG conducted at National Level.
- For all the PG courses, namely, MCA, MA, M.Sc, M.Com, M.Li.Sc and LL.M, the admission is offered on the basis of candidates’ performance in Goa University Admission Ranking Test (GU ART).
- NEET PG is mandatory for admission to MD, MS and a good score in NEET MDS is required for MDS program.
- GATE score holders can apply for M.Tech program but the university also conducts Departmental Entrance Test.
- CMAT qualified candidates are eligible to apply for MBA program.
- M.Sc (Nursing) admission is completely merit-based while M.Pharm admission is subject to a valid score in GPAT.
- M.Phil and Ph.D. admission is based on Goa University entrance test followed by an interview. CSIR NET/ UGC NET/ GATE/ SLET/ JRF/ ICMR or ICAR qualified candidates are exempted from the test. Such candidates need to appear in the interview round only.
