Tumkur University, established in 2004, is one of the most renowned State University of Karnataka. It is a part of the Bangalore University established to provide education to the students coming from the district of Tumkur. The University is Deemed to be a 'B' grade University by the NAAC.

Tumkur University Admission Guidelines
Selection Criteria:
- Under-Graduate Courses: For admission in these courses, the candidate must have 50% marks in the required subject in 12th class. Selection would be done on basis of the merit list.The candidates shortlisted based on their marks in 12th class are called to the university for the document verification process.
- Post-Graduate Courses: The candidate seeking admission in post-Graduation must have a degree with 50% marks in Graduation in the relevant subject.The candidate has to appear for a written test conducted by the university for taking admission in postgraduate courses. PGCET Entrance Exam is conducted for MBA and MCA Courses. Exam is conducted for other Courses by the University itself. Shortlisted candidates are called for the next round which is the personal interview. The admission is done based on the overall performance of the Candidate.
- Doctorate Courses: The Admissions in the Doctoral Degree are done based on Written Test and Personal Interview conducted by the University.The candidates seeking a doctorate from the University must have an PG Degree with 55% marks in the relevant subject.The University also accepts GATE/JRF/SLET score for Ph.D. admissions.

- Where to send Application form:Filled Application form for UG Courses along with Required Documents and Application fees should be sent to UG Department at Tumkur University. For PG Courses except MBA and MCA, Form should be sent to Chairperson of Concerned PG Department at Tumkur University. For MBA, MCA, Application form should be sent to Nodal Officer-Consortium for PGCET 2020, Rani Channamma University Vidya Sangam, PBNH – 4, Belagavi – 591156.
- Application fee: Application fee of INR 250 (INR 125 for SC/ST) for UG Courses, INR 800(INR 400 for SC/ST) for MBA/MCA, INR 350 for PG Courses except MBA/MCA should be sent to Finance Officer of Tumkur University.
