    Course Curriculum Overview:

After graduation, I was looking for an interesting master's course. When I learned about TISS from my school friend, the course curriculum sounded very interesting. Of the courses available at the Tuljapur campus, I was interested in Development Policy, Planning, and Practice (DPPP). The aspect of studying the analysis and framing of policies interested me. Here I could get to work with NGOs as well as state livelihoods missions. Here is my course, there are currently 23 students and per semester there are 4-5 teachers and 1-2 guest lecturers. On average, the faculty-student ratio is 1:25 The teachers are all Ph.D. holders and have long teaching experiences. They teach in classroom mode with the help of ppts and share study material on the student portal. We have a big library as well. Apart from them, the professors share some articles and video materials as well. Timely exams are followed. Difficulty level I would say 3/5.

Ques. How do the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, and XIMB measure up to the established ones of XLRI, TISS, MDI and SCMHRD?

    ● Top Answer By Apoorv Ashutosh on 11 Jan 23

The simple answer to your question is no, the new HR programs of IIM Ranchi, NMIMS, or XIMB are not at par with the established ones XLRI, TISS, MDI, and SCMHRD. The established programs especially that of XLRI are the epitome of HR programs. They cannot be compared to the new ones at any given level or parameter. Faculty: The professors of XLRI are renowned throughout the industry for their competency. They specialize in almost every domain one can think of be it Law, Competency Modeling, Compensation, or Performance Management. Peers: It’s the cream students who get the opportunity to get into a prestigious college like XLRI. You can see tough competition between the finest students at college. Every individual has a valuable opinion and stands to contradict others. Their thinking pattern is broad and given a case study, they look at all angles from accounting to finance to laws while proposing the solution. The situation at TISS is also quite similar. Now one can say that the curriculum can be replicated and learned faculty can be sought to match the quality of the HR program at these institutes. But the truth is faculty and curriculum are the main but not the only factors that determine an institute's worth. Its own culture, ethics, and background have a lot to do with the programs it offers. So one cannot match XLRIs programs no matter how much they try....Read more

Ques. Which is better among TISS HRM, and JBIMS MMS?

    ● Top Answer By Hardik Nagar on 03 Mar 23

TISS offers one of the best HRM programs, rivaling that of XLRI HR, and has produced highly competent individuals in this field. If you have a strong passion for HR and are confident in your choice, TISS would be an excellent choice for you to pursue this specialization. On the other hand, if you are uncertain about your career path, it may be advantageous to keep your options open. In this scenario, it would be best to choose a college that allows you to decide on your stream later, rather than committing to a specific specialization immediately. This approach has its own advantages and disadvantages, so it ultimately comes down to personal preference and what best suits your individual needs and goals. Regardless of your choice, both TISS and JBIMS have top-notch individuals in all areas of management, so you can be assured that you will receive a high-quality education and have the opportunity to be mentored by skilled professionals....Read more

Ques. Which is the best option among these; an MBA at Christ, development studies at TISS, an MBA at ICFAI Hyderabad, or rural management at XIMB?

    ● Top Answer By Rohit Thomas Koshy on 13 Mar 23

First of all, I don’t deem it right for you to compare an MBA with Development studies as both are vastly different. Even comparing a General MBA with that in Rural Management is unjustified. The choice of the program depends on what your inclinations and interests are and what you want to do with your degree. The points below will help you know the right choice for some general preferences. Rural Management: If you want to be in the new markets and provide forward linkages to rural enterprises or backward linkages to large-scale industries, then Rural Management is best for you. Development Studies: If you are willing to work in the policy sector, with an understanding of the development and public policy, and want to become an expert in project management, development, and implementation works in both rural and urban development, in a human and spatial context, then Development Studies is perfect for you. For Money: If money is your primary goal then look for a good MBA college as the ones you mentioned are just average. It is essential to know what exactly a course offers and what you are after only then you can make an informed decision...Read more
