One of my friends is currently pursuing his Electronics and Computer Engineering at Thapar Institute of engineering technology, Patiala. Here are some snippets of his experience on campus so far. The institute has a 300-acre campus of lush green. So, surviving here wont be an issue. The institute organizes great workshops such as Hydraulics, Web Development, and Circuit Building, etc. He said after one and a half months, he realized that the institute offers lots of opportunities, and grabbing them is what you have to do. The hostels are well-maintained and the food is good enough. Hostels have good Wi-Fi speeds ranging from 1.2 - 3 Mbps sometimes. Professors are quite cooperative and they employ new techniques for teaching. There is a well-designed playing area. There is a badminton court, tennis court, synthetic track, etc. Juju’s Cafe, Pizza Nation, are some of the popular hangout places on campus. The rules and regulations are strict when it comes to discipline. Students are not allowed to leave campus after 7 pm. Hope this gives you an idea of what to expect at Thapar University.

There is one thing that is improving every year in the college and that is the average package and the highest package offered to the students of the CSE department. According to this year’s placement highlights the average CTC offered was 8 LPA and the highest CTC offered was 43 LPA. If you are a student of the CSE branch, make sure that you maintain your CGPA above 7 and have good command in JAVA, C++, etc. If you take care of these two things, you will get placed with a very good package. According to some of my friends studying there, the institute has managed to show good placement records every year. Students often receive Pre-placement offers by top companies in their 6th semester after they had training or internship with them. Placement highlights: A total of 264 recruiting companies visited the campus for placements. On average, about 90% of B.Tech students were placed. The highest CTC offered in B.Tech at Thapar was INR 25 LPA and the average CTC was between INR 6-8 LPA. The top recruiting firms for Electrical engineering are Maruti, Deloitte, Exl Analytics, Tata Motors, Mu Sigma, Honda, Schneider Electric, Asian paints, Reliance, Wipro, Sapient, etc. The internship opportunities are also good and these turn into full-time offers sometimes. One girl got an internship at Reliance which turned into a full-time job at CTC 16 LPA. The top mass recruiters were Infosys and TCS. They offer a salary package of 3-3.5 LPA. The students of B.Tech score the highest number of placements every year at Thapar University. The institute has even managed to get more than 90% of students placed in the last 6 years. You should make sure to contact a currently enrolled student and know the scenarios.

Thapar University has 670 seats for CSE students. Does this affect placements, because after seeing the number of CSE seats, I'm a bit tensed to join Thapar University?

Yes, the huge batch size can be concerning. Thapar University or now known as Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology (TIET) is situated at Patiala, Punjab.The placement percentage has been consistently above 90% for the last six years. It recently conducted its 2022 placement drive. A total of 361 recruiters participated and recruited 1622 students. The Highest Package of INR 40 LPA was offered to the students where as the Average Package stood at INR 10.97 LPA.

Till November 15, 2021, 889 students were already placed. 944 placement offers were made by the recruiters. 55 students already received multiple Job offers.

During the 2021 placement drive, 388 recruiters participated. 1207 students were placed & 1325 placement offers were made.

Placement Experience:

The placements at my college are decent. Students may be eligible for campus placements after the 5th-6th semesters. In the year 2022, above 95% of students who applied for placements were placed from COE(Computer Engineering) branch. Top recruiting companies were Amazon, Deloitte, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, Maruti, and many others. The highest on-campus placement last year was around 50-55 lakhs per annum. The average placement for COE in Thapar Institute was around 12LPA, with a median salary of 10LPA. Almost 60% of students get internships in the 3rd year of their graduation. COE is the best branch as it deals with both hardware and software, so it leads to overall development which is the primary requirement for becoming an engineer in today's world. After getting the degree, I want to explore myself and want a good placement by a company that needs my skills.

Internships Opportunities:

TIET offers a range of internship opportunities to deserving students, with top companies visiting the college for recruitment. Web developer, Software developer, business analyst, data analyst, and many more are the roles provided by the companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Deloitte providing stipends to students. Placement Experience:

TIET offers a considerably good amount of placements, with packages ranging from as low as 6lpa to as high as 60-70lpa. Also, the percentage of students getting placement is quite high for the current year.

Internships Opportunities:

Our College also provides a good amount of internship opportunities, and the ones worthy can easily make it. Companies like JPMC, and Maruti (in mechanical), offer internships, and a nice stipend is also provided. Students are provided a project semester for the internship, and in the end, they have to prepare a detailed report, telling about their learnings and outcomes.

Over Hyped college but not for Computer Branches

Placement Experience:
