Sikkim Manipal University M.Tech. Eligibility

Eligibility for different M.Tech. programs vary and are listed below:

  • M. Tech Digital Electronics & Communication Engineering: Bachelor Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Telecommunication/ Instrumentation Engineering, as applicable, with a minimum of 55% (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC) marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • M. Tech Production Engineering: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate degree, as applicable, with a minimum of 55% (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC) marks or equivalent CGPA. 
  • M. Tech (Computer Science and Engineering): Bachelor Degree in any branch of Engineering/ MSc in Electronics/Computer Science/ Information. Technology/Physics/Mathematics/ Statistics or MCA, with a minimum of 55% (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC) marks or equivalent CGPA.
  • M.Tech. in Information Technology: Indian nationals can apply under the General Category. Foreign nationals or Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/NRI Category. BE / B. Tech or equivalent in appropriate branch with 55% marks or equivalent.
  • M.Tech. in Power Electronics: B.E/B. Tech or AMIE or equivalent in Electrical & Electronics or Electronics & Communication or Instrumentation.
  • M.Tech. in Structural Engineering: BE / B. Tech or equivalent in appropriate branch with 55% marks or equivalent.

Sikkim Manipal University M.Tech. Admission Criteria

Selection Criteria:

  1. GATE Examination
  2. Screening Test conducted at SMIT by the concerned Department
  3. While preparing the merit, 50% weightage is given to aggregate marks obtained in BE/B Tech and 50% weightage for marks obtained in screening test.
  4. Candidates through Entrance Examination conducted by Manipal University, Manipal.
  5. Four seats are reserved for Sikkim Government nominees. 

How to Apply?

  • Candidates need to first register with their mobile number and email ID.
  • The system will send a verification code to your mobile and email to verify your mobile and email information.
  • Upon successful verification, candidates should sign in using the application number and password to file the online application.
  • Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) has released the application form at the official website, applysmit.in. Applicants must fill the application before the deadline.
  • Candidate need to keep ready scanned photo and signature to upload (.jpg format; maximum file size 200KB; 200 px x 200 px)
  • Once the application is submitted successfully, candidates will be redirected to the online payment gateway.
  • To complete the application process, candidates are required to pay the application fee of Rs 1000/-. SMIT offers admission to M.Tech Course for the academic session 2021-23. 
  • Once the application fee is submitted successfully, then the registration will be considered as completed.
