Admission:

NITIE takes admission through both CAT and GATE exams, I applied for NITIE through the CAT exam and it is only eligible for engineers, the application form and application are free and other details are available on the college website. The admission process was very well organized. The admission process for the shortlisting was based on the CAT exam percentile. Once shortlisted from the CAT percentile then there will be an interview process. The interview will be focusing on the kind of knowledge of gained during your B.Tech as well if you have work experience then it will be more focused on work experience and the contribution that you have done in your last organization. As far as the experience of the interview is concerned it was very streamlined and it was one of the best interview processes that I had attended among all the different IIMs and other B schools.

Ques. I got a 1400 rank with a 720 GATE score. What is the probability that I can get admission in NITIE, Mumbai?

● Top Answer By Subham Yadav on 22 Mar 22

The required GATE cutoff varies each year. NITIE Mumbai GATE cutoff 2021 was 609 for general category students. A GATE score of in the 600-700 band is considered to be safe.  The second step of the selection process is GD-PI. This round depends on your profile and the way you will drive the interview. The institute assigns some weightage to the profile of the students for selection as well. But the percentage isn’t disclosed. ...Read more

Ques. What is the admission criterion for NITIE, Mumbai, for a student with an engineering background?

● Top Answer By Pragya Chawla on 20 Aug 21

NITIE is a renowned institute and is among the top institutes in this league. Candidates belonging to an engineering background are eligible for admission here. There are other criteria to meet which are as follows: A minimum of 60% marks in 10th, 12th, and graduation should be secured if you belong to the general category and 55% marks for backward castes. For PGDIM, 97.5 percentile in CAT is required for the general category. However, the CAT percentile is extremely low for backward castes. The GATE cut-off for PGDIE is different over the branches. A score of 609 and above in GATE makes it certain for a callback. Once shortlisted, you will receive a call for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews. The PI is headed by a team of experienced professors who inquire about your background, academic education, technical knowledge, and other general awareness fields.  Your performance in GD and PI round influences your scores and chances of acceptance. It is after this process that the Merit List is issued with the names of the selected candidates....Read more

Ques. How much chance to get admission in NITIE Mumbai after shortlisted for GD AND PI ?

● Top Answer By Kaya Kalaria on 12 Aug 21

One of my friends graduated from NITIE. According to him, being shortlisted from NITIE depends on several factors. Let me share the ones I got to know about. The most important factor is the GD and PI rounds. PI generally has a greater weightage than GD. Another important factor is your previous qualifications. If you have a great academic score overall in your 10th, 12th, and Graduation, you will then stand out among others. These scores must be equivalent to getting 94 and above out of 100. If you have 2-3 years of work experience, you will also be preferred among other candidates without work experience. Keep a check on the waitlists. After the first-round selection, a lot of students tend to leave NITIE for other options. At this moment you can get selected....Read more

Ques. What is the admission process for nitie?

● Top Answer By Yogita Rathi on 13 Aug 21

The admission process will differ depending on the course you are applying for. If you are planning on joining PGDIM, here is the basic admission process: Appear for CAT. Write a few essays and pay the fee when the application form for NITIE becomes available. Wait till you get shortlisted as it depends on your CAT percentile, your essays, and finally, your profile.  If you get shortlisted, you will have to appear for a group discussion and another personal interview round. If you do really well, you will be given a seat at NITIE or you will be put on a waitlist. If your case is the latter, rest assured. The lists move relatively quickly since a lot of good candidates apply to multiple top b-schools. After you qualify for your admission, you will be given a short window of a few days to pay the fees. Your seat will be confirmed then. Your classes will begin around mid-June. It is a relatively simple process. Just ensure that you give your best in your essays, the personal interview, and ground discussions rounds. These would be the deal breakers for your admission. ...Read more

Ques. What is the weightage of GD and PI in the NITIE admission through the GATE?

● Top Answer By Jiten Mukherjee on 13 Aug 21

During the admission procedure, the candidate is judged upon the weightage of their GATE score, GD or PI, and their academic credentials. Considering your score being lower than usual, then it is the GD and PI that will play a pivotal role in your further selection. It also partially depends upon your communications skills because, only last time, NITIE offered management courses to a few handful of students based on how fluent they were with their communication skills.  NITIE Mumbai does not often divulge the criteria they usually follow for shortlisting students or finalizing candidates. It is best to acquire the best GATE scores. ...Read more

If you get shortlisted for further rounds, you would get an invitation for the Group discussion and Personal Interview rounds. The sessions are usually half a day or a full day long. You can check out your name in the list of the shortlisted applicants to ensure your candidature at the institution.  The institute has made it mandatory that the students are from a technical background.  There are two ways you take admission at NITIE.  Through GATE, you can apply for PGDIE, PGDMM, and PGDPM programs.  Through CAT, you are eligible to apply for the PGDIM and PGDM programs offered by the institution.  Other than the GATE and CAT examination scores, you will be tested based on the following.  Total Work Experience (0 to 4 years is considered to be appropriate for most cases)  The Engineering College from where you have obtained your UG degree and Marks obtained.  Percentage obtained in Class 12th.  Percentage obtained in Class 10th Examination.
