What students say about Mata Sundri College for Women

Likes

  • The faculty helps students with everything. They provide information about the courses and syllabus and share all their experiences to help their students excel. Additionally, the principal interacts with students and continuously motivates them.
  • There is a waste warrior non-profit organization that provides a digital media assistant position for both part-time and full-time.
  • The placement cell of Mata Sundri College for Women is one of the best placement cells at the University of Delhi.
  • The campus placement is also very good; we can apply for internships as well as for placements.
  • The library and the auditorium are the best places I have been to in my college.
  • I live in a PG, and I feel its much better than hostel facilities. I can have my privacy, and the food quality is also better in PGs. Additionally, I feel that hostels lack hygiene, while you can be more systematic in PGs.
  • I have been admitted to Mata Sundari College for Women, which is one of the best colleges in Delhi University. It also offers internship and placement opportunities.

Dislike

  • There was no internship program in our college. The companies that came for placement used to come to the North campus. So, it was not a good competition.
  • There are 6-7 students who got placed in companies like TCS and Deloitte, solely through off-campus placement. However, a few students have not received offer letters since January 2020.
  • Delhi Universitys fees are low compared to those of other universities, so I think it works for middle-class students. However, it might be difficult for some.
  • Our department is particularly in very bad shape; the walls are falling, the washrooms are in horrible conditions, and having a network is a miracle. Other than this, the lab equipment is good, and we have a big library with many books available.
  • The college management was not strong; some of the programs conducted at college were not mandated to be attended.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose university of Delhi because their courses were considered very good for all arts based undergraduate courses and I'm very glad I did. History(Hons.) is a very specialized and important course of the university, although this was not the course that I was hoping to get but instead was hoping for psychology honours but was considered ineligible for it because of my score. University Of Delhi needs one to get a very high score to qualify psychology honours. The student teacher ratio is approximately estimated to be 1:3. The teachers are very highly qualified and get to teach in the college based on years of experience. Shabnam Ma'am and Simi ma'am who have been part of the faculty for approximately 15 years teach Social Formation in Ancient India and History Of Ancient and Medivial India. Majority of the teaching staff are Delhi University graduates themselves and gold medalists too. Exams were conducted regularly and one must have atleast 75? attendance and 4.5 CGPA to pass.

Remarks:

I was admitted into the college thought the CUET exam i.e. Common University Enterance Test which you can write once you have cleared your 12th grade board exams. After applying for CUET through the NTA website (National Testing Agency) if someone is from the general category they must pay an amount of approximately 1300 rupees, post that you have to select the domain subjects, which means that the subjects that one wants to pursue a course in and one must have already passed those subjects already in grade 12 in order to give these exams. Then you get an option of applying for the universities/ colleges, you must choose them courses carefully and then go ahead. I gave the exam in July and August of 2022 and had an average score of 637/800 and applied for University of Delhi through their CSAS form which costed me approximately 250 rupees as from general category and 100 rupees for Reserved Categories. I got admission through the special spot round 1 in December 2022 after waiting.

Placement Experience:

From the start of the 5th semester or the second last semester, the students became eligible for any job that may be offered and even the first year students are eligible for internship opportunities. Around 80% of students get enrolled in the commerce department and the rest goes for further studies. I plan on further studies.

Remarks:

The admission process was very easy and online at my time you were supposed to apply if you fulfilled the cutoff and they will get back to you after one or two business days. Then you were supposed to pay the fees for one year and be done.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted a specialisation in BCOM, so I chose this and the class strength was good enough to be focused on too. I really found faculty members helping there, the exams were conducted regularly along with the tests taken in class, and extra classes for doubts were also conducted on several days.

Remarks:

I was given admission on a merit basis and had to fill out the form on the official site of DU but in college admission process was not too good, had to wait in lines the whole day, and nothing was managed properly. All other details are available on the official site which includes application fees and dates.

Placement Experience:

From the first year onwards we are eligible for internship opportunities by internship cell. During our 6th sem, we are eligible for job interviews. The placement cell is working hard to review their work in a well-mannered form but still, they lag in bringing big companies to college for on-campus placement drives. Companies like byjus, Genpact, etc. came for placements and they offer full-time jobs for 4-6 lacs package varying from the post they offer. The highest package could go up to 7-8 lacs and on average it's 2 lacs. They offered a various range of profiles to get into. The percentage should be more than 65% at least to get the final placement done smoothly. Plans for graduation are going for higher students in this subject only who want to have a PhD degree.

Remarks:

During my time of admission, I fortunately or unfortunately came across the process of online admission let me give you the reason why fortunately because I heard about the admission process during offline college we need to come to college and need to stand in long queues with all documents and being an outstation student it's very difficult for me to do this thus, fortunately, I came across online admission process and I got admission on merit basis so there was no entrance exam for me. But as I told you unfortunately too I want you to know the process of online admission is really mentally tiring. One will be exhausted after waiting for documents to submit and verify. Course - I'm currently studying B. A philosophy hon. Eligibility criteria are very simple you can find them on the official du website. Bonus point:- anyone from any stream background is able to take admission in B. A philosophy Hons I hadn't availed any reservations but every detail you can find on the website itself.

Course Curriculum Overview:

If I talk about psychology I have 2 teachers in 3rd semester 1 is super awesome she knows a lot about psychology and the other is just a lethargic one who doesn't want to teach and just wants us to cram everything. There is 6 semester in 3 years of the course.

Remarks:

Eligibility of the course is just that you need to have psychology and economics in your 12th standard or else a few percentages will get deducted. Application forms for all DU colleges come on the DU website only. The admission process of pretty easy no complications I have faced.
