What students say about Vishwakarma Government Engineering College - [VGEC]

Likes

  • The course content of our college, which is decided by GTU, is very good and knowledgeable.
  • As the college is located in Ahmedabad, which is the hub of Gujarat, there is a great opportunity for students studying information technology and computer engineering. Additionally, for the electrical engineering branch, there is a powerhouse.
  • The placements offered by companies at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College are very good and competitive.
  • There is no scholarship provided by the college, but if you are eligible for any government scholarship, the college makes their best effort to support the students in becoming eligible and obtaining the scholarship.
  • In college, workshops and labs are in very good condition, and all machinery and equipment are also in very good condition.
  • It is very, very, very good for staying students. Our hostel fee is 22000 per year, and I think it is good for everyone because paying for a PG or another room is costlier than Sardardham.
  • My college is perfect in every aspect. Yeah, we all have some cons, thats just our nature. However, in my college, there were some problems. Now, as a student, its my duty to overcome them and take our college to its peak time.

Dislike

  • I feel that the Campus for Internship is very poor. Faculties are not more interested in these things.
  • Other than that, there are average salary packages for the computer department and the Information & Technology department.
  • There is no loan facility as the fees of this college are minimal, so you dont even have an idea to take a loan.
  • There is no annual fest organized by the college, but there is a Vishwacup where you can play games and earn certificates. Otherwise, no such fest happens in the college. This is one of the negative sides of the college.
  • I have never stayed at the hostel myself, but from what I have heard from my friends, the VEGC hostel is a horrible place to live

Placement Experience:

The college has a strong record of corporate placement with well-known companies such as IBM, Infosys, TCS, E-Infochip, Reliance, NIRMA, Torrent Power, Argusoft, TatvaSoft, Hitachi, Maruti Technolabs, Adani Enterprises regularly visiting campus to hire students as per their requirements. Students from Computer Engineering, Information Technology, and Electronics and Communication streams generally receive higher packages from these companies. In the 2023 pass-out year, a total of 417 students received job offers from these companies.

Remarks:

The admission process for the college I'm familiar with is regulated by the Admission committee for Professional Courses(ACPC). To apply for admission, candidates must register and fill in the details on the ACPC website within a specific period, which is announced on the official website. The application fee varies from year to year. ACPC generates an ACPC RANK for an individual candidate. ACPC merit marks are calculated by combining 40% of the GUJCET marks and 60% of PCM 12th Board marks, whether it be GSEB, CBSE, or ICSE. After that, students can select the college/university they wish to join. Seat allocation happens considering the candidate's merits rank. Also, candidates who are from the reservation category can get availed in the admission process. The entire process is online; candidates are not required to visit individual colleges or universities for admission. However, they may need to visit once for admission confirmation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is a very wide field that's why I have chosen this. The faculty is excellent. They have deep knowledge in their respective areas. Exams are pretty simple but hard as well. Teaching method is also appropriate and understandable.

Remarks:

We have to go for acpc counseling by the government of Gujarat. On the ACPC website, you can choose your colleges according to your marks and rank. Then there is a round system in it. They offer you colleges according to your rank.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements are very good. We are eligible for placement from semester 8. There are companies like TCS, Infosys, etc these types of companies are coming for offering campus placements. The highest package is 22 lakhs, the one student got in a branch of IT. 60% of student was getting placements every year.

Remarks:

We will give the HSC exam and gujcat exam. The admission was not very tough. We form fill through the ACPC website. If you are approved for the college. The college will contact you then. Then you do pay your fees through the ACPC website only.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose computer science because I always wanted to do that and VGEC is one of the best colleges in Gujarat to pursue Computer science Engineering. Faculty: student ratio is something you can conclude by knowing that there are two teachers per subject. And we have mid-sem, internal viva, and end-sem exams every sem. And also external viva but after 5th sem.

Remarks:

The admission process was simple and similar to the admission process in other gtu colleges through acpc cut-off rank that is calculated from 12th marks and GUJCET. There are no direct admissions but yes you can get admissions after a diploma in engineering also.
