What students say about Tara Devi Harakh Chand Kankaria Jain College

Likes

  • The syllabus provided by the university is one of the best in the country.
  • Very good placements and job opportunities; many multinational companies come to our college for job interviews, such as Wipro, Deloitte, TCS, PWC, Reliance, and Infosys. However, my college did not provide any type of internship.
  • A student who gets a good percentile in college internal exams gets a scholarship from the college. Hence, I dont know whether the college provides education loans or not.
  • Our college life is great; we have an annual fest called Ripples and Zest every year.
  • I have not opted for the hostel since it is in my home city, but after hearing from my friend, I got to know its good, its safe, students get separate rooms, and the best part is, they get all this at affordable prices.
  • The online application form was helpful, and the office provided good assistance.

Dislike

  • As far as the exam structure is concerned, the college needs to take the normal college exams seriously

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have chosen B.com(Hons.) because I was interested in accounting and finance. I am in the Day batch of b.com, faculties are average, some part time teachers are better than the full-time teachers, each subject will be taught by 3-4 teachers. If your parents are paying fees for college than don't take admission, it will completely be a waste of their hard-earned money. For b.com(Hons.) it's 33000 fees + 400-500( semester exam fees which are higher than the actual exam fees taken by the University of Calcutta, they charge a commission over it like 100-200 from each student). The ratio of the student's attendance is 2:5. I will rate faculties 4 out of 10. There is no air conditioning inside the classes and Library. More than half of the common rooms are also locked. In the name of sports, there is only a basketball court which is not in good condition.

Remarks:

Eligibility of the course: must score 60% or more in 12th standard. You can find the form on the website of the college itself. There is no entrance examination like that to take admission to this college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course I pursued was B.com (honors), which constitutes 6 semesters in general. The minimum mark to pass a subject is 28. The college comes under the University of Calcutta and follows all its guidelines of it. The faculty is really helpful and encouraging.

Remarks:

After giving my 12th board, I filled out an online application form for my admission to Tara Devi Jain College from their official website only. then, I got my name on the merit list, and Cut off was 45%. There is no entrance exam to take admission to the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose the course as I wanted to pursue B.com(Hons) degree from a well-known college. Faculty to student ratio was about 100 students there were 2 teachers. All the faculty members were good and hold a reputed degrees like M.com, Msc. The teachers explained the topics very well. The exams were of two types with unit test of 20 marks and main exam of 80 marks as set by calcutta university. The interval was around 6 months(semester-wise). Pre- covid the exams timely occurred but in covid time it was delayed with a gap of few months. I would say difficulty level of exam was of moderate level in terms of passing the exam.

Remarks:

It was a simple process where I applied through an admission form to get admission into the college and got admission when I made the payment for 1 year for the course through the demand draft from a bank.
