National Research Centre on Pomegranate was established in 2005 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. It was set up as a step to strengthen research and development infrastructure for pomegranate crop. This institute is the sole institute of its kind that carries out research on pomegranate. The centre was established to fulfil the growing demand for pomegranate both in domestic and export market through tapping the immense production potential prevailing in the country. In view of the vast potential of the country for the production of quality pomegranate, the National Research Centre on Pomegranate (NRCP) was established by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The vision of the institute is to become a centre of excellence on pomegranate research both nationally and internationally.
