AP ECET Eligibility Criteria 2023: Age, Nationality and Qualification

AP ECET 2023 Eligibility: Indian nationals satisfying the local/ non-local status laid down by the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions can apply for the exam. Registration will be started on the official portal, candidates can apply online at the official website sche.ap.gov.in. Check AP ECET 2023 Application Form 

The exam is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Anantapur each year, offering admission into 2nd-year level Lateral Entry into Engineering/Pharmacy Courses for Diploma holders of Engineering & Technology and B.Sc. (Mathematics).

AP ECET General Eligibility

AP ECET Eligibility 2023: General

The aspirants satisfying the below requirements are considered to be eligible to appear for AP ECET 2023.

Nationality: Candidates must be of Indian nationality.

Domicile: Candidates must belong to state of Andhra Pradesh and satisfy local/non-local status requirements. 

Ques. What is the meaning of local/ non-local status of a candidate?

Ans. The meaning of these terms is given below:

Local candidates: A candidate is considered to be local if-

  • Candidate has studied in the state for four years of continuous academic qualifications or
  • Candidate has studied in any institution in the state of Andhra Pradesh for seven years or 
  • Candidate has been residing in the state of Andhra Pradesh for four years.

Non-Local Candidate: A Non-Local candidate will be eligible to get admission in the 15% reserved seats. Non-local candidate is one who-

  • Has resided in the state for 10 years, periods of study outside the state or
  • Candidates whose parents have resided in the state for a period of ten years excluding the period of employment outside the state or
  • Candidates whose parents are employed in the State or Central Government, Public Sector Corporations, Local Bodies, Universities, and any other quasi-public institutions within the state.

AP ECET Eligibility 2023: Academic Qualifications

The candidates appearing for AP ECET exam are required to obtain a diploma in respective courses for admission to B.E/B.Tech and B.Pharma.

  • B.E/B.Tech: For admission in B.E/ B.Tech, aspirants should have obtained a diploma in Engineering and Technology or any other equivalent diploma from an AICTE approved and Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized institution OR a 3-year B.Sc degree with mathematics as one of the subjects from a recognized university.
  • B.Pharma: For admission in B.Pharma, aspirants should have obtained a diploma in Pharmacy or any other diploma from an AICTE approved and Government of Andhra Pradesh recognized institution as equivalent thereto for admission in B.Pharma. B.Sc degree holders are not eligible for admission in B.Pharma.
- Appearing Students: Candidates who are pursuing a diploma course are eligible to apply for the test provided they should have completed and passed all the exam of the diploma before the time of admission into the college.
- Required Marks: Candidates belonging to the unreserved category should have passed the relevant diploma with at least 45% marks. While for reserved category candidates the minimum required marks are 40%.

AP ECET Eligibility Lateral

AP ECET Eligibility 2023: Lateral Admission into B.E/B.Tech/B.Pharma

  • Candidates must have appeared and qualified AP ECET 2023 along with satisfying the requirement of eligibility and other criteria laid down in the rules of admission.
  • Admission to 85% of the seats in each course will be reserved for local candidates and the remaining 15% will be kept unreserved.
  • Admission to B.Sc (Mathematics) degree holders will be given only after exhausting all the qualified diploma holders.
