Being the Academic Dean of DIET, what are your responsibilities in the long run?

"Ensuring classes are conducted daily and students receive best quality education"

As the Academic Coordinator of the institute, I make sure that our classroom delivery model to teach students maintains its highest standards at all times. This of course requires several checkpoints to be monitored on a daily basis; some of them include ensuring the punctuality of faculty members in classes, preparing them in the best possible way to deliver lectures by conducting a thorough discussion every week. In addition to this, resolving students’ grievances on time and establishing a system where everyone supports each other to learn and grow also comes under my daily responsibilities.

How do you ensure the flow of education is more interactive and participative in your organization?

"We follow an amalgamation of learning approaches including flipped classrooms and group discussions"

We need to accept that the flow of education which was earlier one dimensional is now taking a revolutionary turn of making the education system student centric and of constructive form rather than simple instructive format. Hence, we keep introducing new teaching methods like flipped classroom, peer learning, group discussions, seminars and computer aided learning sessions as and when required.

What are your roles and responsibilities for the college and students?

"Addressing students queries and resolving them on time is my prime responsibility"

Being the Academic Coordinator, my role in the institute is very precise and of multi dimensional kind, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I am responsible for addressing student academics, coordinating with our teaching fraternity to keep them connected to the student community through a quality teaching system. Lastly, consolidating the genuine requirements proposed by students and faculty to the Head of the Institute or conveying important guidelines the other way round comes under the scope of my responsibilities.

What would you like people to know about your institution?

"We offer employment oriented education and best industrial exposure"

Our institute strives to impart finest quality, society driven and employment oriented education in our students and our main focus is to ensure disciplined behavior of students and also their complete growth. Hence, we have collaborated with a diverse range of industries and professional bodies to conduct customized training programs, internships and research activities in line with the industry requirements and students needs in order to enhance the industrial exposure of students.

How do you establish a healthy relationship and environment in your institute?

"By ensuring students and faculty participation in college activities"

We have a very good hierarchical system in our institute to establish a healthy environment at all levels. Also different functional committees have been established in our college to organize activities under several clubs and professional bodies. As each of these committees involve both students and faculty members participation right from the organizing level, a cordial and warm bonding is established between the individuals to excel as a team.

How has the internet and digital media helped in the promotion of your institution?

"Digital media has helped us a lot in expanding our reach among our future students"

Our college firmly believes that the digital media and internet technologies have helped us a lot in enhancing our presence among our potential students and their parents from time to time. And we are using our social media handles including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram pages and Telegram Channels along with LinkedIn pages to inform the outside world about our college activities, achievements and events. Apart from this, all the official communication across the campus is made strictly digital through E-Circulars, G Suite email IDs to keep students in sync followed by Google classrooms which we use to teach our students.

What changes have you observed in terms of students aspiring for higher education due to the pandemic?

"Now more students are preferring higher education and online mode of learning"

I will be honest here as I have seen a tremendous shift in the pattern and now more students are going for higher education if we compare the before and after situation of the pandemic and students are preferring virtual mode of learning over offline education. And I believe the global knowledge system has come to a single roof nowadays where it is not difficult to pursue courses of your choice by sitting in the comfort of your home.

Any suggestions which you would like to give to the current youth and aspiring students?

"Keep your basic concepts crystal clear in your mind and stay updated with latest trends"

I would suggest to my students and youths of our society to strengthen their basic concepts before undergoing any additional training or certification courses during their graduation and post graduation. Because I believe an application oriented learning approach will always benefit them with a special focus on practical experimentation. Don't be afraid of asking questions and exploring new areas that suit your passion and interests and live your life to the fullest.

What are some plans that you are currently designing for DIET?

"We are working to establish a centralized learning atmosphere for students in college"

We are currently working on strengthening the students’ development clubs of all the departments of our college. Also, we will soon be establishing a fully student centric ecosystem in our college campus and as part of this we have initiated the DIET Volunteering Club to organize all institutional activities with the guidance and support of DVC mentors. This has brought together the working spirit of all the students to a single platform from where we would like to capitalize and extend it towards their technical advancement.
