The industry provides the opportunity to shape the future leaders of the country

The education industry provides us the best opportunity to reach mental satisfaction. Here, we get the opportunity to shape the future of India and groom them to become the torch bearers of the next generation.

I entered the education industry in 1982 after completing my post-graduation from Calcutta University. Out of the total 38 years of my career, I have spent a fair amount of time, precisely 16 years, in the core of manufacturing and IT industry. As a Principal and Director of several institutions, I had the opportunity to motivate students to make them reach the pinnacle of their career success. At present; I am associated with Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology of Techno India Group in West Bengal.

Leadership is an essential part of building a successful team via motivation and discipline

Leadership is an exercise of building a performing team through motivation and discipline. Along with the role of a task master, I try to maintain a cordial, humane and honest image before my faculty, staff and students. Now is not the age to get any work done by issuing orders. It is essential for a leader to motivate everyone around.

The biggest challenge is to prepare students to be industry-ready

The biggest challenge is to make students ready for the industry. The professional skills required for a job are not included in the university curriculum. Thus, we arrange various technical and soft skill training sessions for the students. The digitally powered learning enhances their growth by many folds. On the contrary, a significant section of the students do not understand the importance of these sessions and are unable to utilize the opportunities created for them by the college. Parents expect the college to take necessary steps to make the students employable but the initiatives of the college for the same purpose are not appropriately supported. It is a continuous process of counseling and motivation of the students and their parents by our motivated faculty members.

There is a great demand of industry experts to make students aware of the outside world scenario

We have a close interaction with industry, and hence we understand their requirements in terms of knowledge and skill. While we provide the best curriculum based education to our students, our qualified and experienced faculty members identify the gap between industry-expectations and university-curriculum. As a beyond-the-curriculum initiative, we systematically plan value-added domain knowledge training at the end of every semester to bridge the gap. This is our USP about the curriculum of this college.

Education, communication and discipline forms the core of a students to strive for excellence

Out of a long list of qualities, I emphasize primarily on three attributes that a student should possess. First and foremost is definitely academics and good grades. Then comes communication, and last but not the least is discipline. The attitude and intention of a student for learning carries a lot of impression in the process of recruitment.

It is mandatory for an academic campus that discipline should prevail to build an ideal environment

In an academic campus, discipline should prevail to build an ideal environment. College should not be a place of rote-learning only. Students should engage themselves in doing experiments leading to innovations. Hidden talents of students in performing and creative arts, adventures, games and sports need support as compliments to groom their personality. Culture as above needs shaping by the faculty members.

The ambiance of industry orientation in the college makes sure that students are industry-ready

Through different training courses, we are providing extra values to the students for easy entry and settling in the industry. To imbibe seriousness among students for studies and career-building, we have created an ambiance of discipline in the college. We provide adequate exposure to students highlighting developments in the corporate, national and international arena that may impact their long term career prospects.

Placements and educational fronts are the areas that we will be working on for the upcoming years

The goal is to increment the amount of placements, more students going for higher studies in India and abroad. Another important goal is to increase the average salary offered to our students by the industry. I understand the pain of parents investing all their savings for their child’s education. So placement will remain the foremost priority. Good placement also brings higher admission.

The youth needs to understand the importance of hard work and determination

Everyone wants to enjoy a better quality of life which can be earned through career success. To get success, there is no substitute for hard work. So, avoid “ Jugaad” technology and be serious about your career. You must have a dream and realistic target. Decide the right strategy to attain the target. Understand the value of time and money and don’t waste them today to nip your potential to blossom tomorrow.
