Bhubaneswar, November 23, 2018: ASBM, Asian School of Business Management, one of the leading B-schools of India organized the 8th National HR Symposium on November 22, 2018, on a pertinent theme, ‘Redesigning HR: The Way Forward’. The symposium was inaugurated by Mr. B. K. Thakur, Director, HR, NALCO, Bhubaneswar. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the changing role of HR practitioners to create a conducive environment for the employees to give constructive and valuable feedback which can form the basis of redesigning HR for bringing organizational effectiveness.

Dr. Douglas Gilbert, Professor, Colorado Community College & Team Lead, ACBSP, USA in his keynote address focused on the importance of stakeholders’ interest, process re-engineering, change navigation and deliberate implementation in a highly unstable and unpredictable business world characterized by Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity & Ambiguity (VUCA) to meet organizational goals. He further emphasized the need to adopt changes for taking the organization to a high level of excellence.

Mr. G. Upadhyaya, Former, CMD, NALCO in his presidential address discussed on the issue of managing technological change through artificial intelligence and business analytics. The theme of the symposium was introduced by Founder and Director, ASBM and Chairman 8th National HR Symposium, Prof. (Dr.) Biswajeet Pattanayak. In his welcome address, he said that the landscape that confronts the business leaders today is characterized by significant changes which invariably calls for redesigning HR to stay relevant and achieve organizational goals. In this context, he further emphasized redesigning HR taking cognizance of Structural, Technical, Economical, Environmental and Political (STEEP) issues of the business.

The plenary session of the symposium was graced by eminent HR practitioners like Mr. Pradeep Pramanik, Director, Fast Track Career Consultants; Mr. Dilip Kumar Mohanty, President-HRM, Jaiswal Neco Industries Ltd.; Mr. Debabrata Dash, Chief-HR, Tata Alloys Ltd.; and Mr. Dillip Ranjan Panda, Consultant, ORACLE, ERP-HRMS, TCS Ltd. Associate Dean of ASBM and Coordinator of 8th National HR Symposium, Prof. (Dr.) Phalgu Niranjana introduced the guests and Co-coordinator; Dr. Bhakta Bandhu Dash proposed the Vote of Thanks.
