Dr. D Suryanarayana is at the helm of affairs as the Director and Principal of Vishnu Institute of Technology, Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. He is a distinguished Professor of CSE, an eminent researcher, an outspoken interpreter, a dexterous administrator and a master in management, planning, coordination and budgeting. He has 30 years of extensive experience in academics and administration and as a Director of VIT, he has implemented winning strategies, regulations and systems to ensure that all young minds are provided education in a safe, conventional, equitable and inclusive learning environment.. We are offering a 4-year B.Tech (CSE) Degree course in the discipline of Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Computer Science & Business Systems to our students to make them ready for the outside competitive world.

We have the best team of highly educated and extensively experienced faculty members and our college infrastructure has been developed keeping in mind the needs of courses and students. In addition to this, we are using the latest software and technologies to deliver our courses to students. So, in my opinion, all these factors together make our programs worth pursuing for students. 

What is your opinion on the recently introduced National Education Policy?

I firmly believe that the recently introduced National Education Policy will bring an incredible change in the education sector in upcoming years and we along with the support of our highly qualified faculty members and management are working rigorously to implement the NEP in our courses and curriculum effectively and efficiently.

How do the courses of your college ensure the future preparedness of students post-pandemic?

Post-pandemic, the world order has changed drastically and now countries are considering India an important partner who can fulfill their needs and also a hub of development and trade activities instead of China. Hence we are training our students in the best possible way through customized and industry specific training programs so that they can effectively implement their learning to meet the global expectations.

I firmly believe that there is an urgent need to update and renew the usual thought process of both Mentors and Mentees and both of them should be prepared thoroughly to achieve a high degree of flexibility in learning new programs because if students and teachers can quickly adapt to this dynamic, competitive and growing world, there are high chances that they can meet the changing technological demands globally. And yes, incorporation of the latest technologies in courses is surely going to revolutionize the education sector in the upcoming times.

How do you build a strong connection between your institute courses and industry developments?

We have collaborated with reputed and leading industries to ensure the best learning opportunities for our students. And due to this alliance, things have become much easier for us as we regularly send our qualified and experienced faculty members to companies to work with industry experts and professionals for the purpose of preparing an industry oriented and placement driven curriculum. Apart from this, we involve our alumni who are in key positions in MNCs to prepare the curriculum. 

What challenges have you faced while inculcating new programs in your curriculum?

"Overconfident attitude of faculty members while learning new technologies is a hurdle for us"

The complacent mindset and overconfident attitude of faculty members and trainers when they learn new technologies and talk about their expertise is a real challenge for me as far as implementation of new courses is concerned.

Which key factors are being considered by you and your team while adding a new course to the curriculum?

"We thoroughly analyze and evaluate our college infrastructure and demand of courses in the outside world"

When we design a new course to be added in the curriculum of our college, we rigorously analyze and investigate various parameters. And the very first factor which we consider is whether newly introduced courses can provide long lasting career opportunities to students or not. Next, we evaluate whether we have enough infrastructure and faculty to take up a particular course and lastly we check whether students' level of understanding is compatible with the course or not.

How does your institute assist students with respect to internships and projects?

"We regularly motivate our students to do apprenticeships in latest technologies like AI, ML and PEGA"

We encourage our students to do internships in the emerging areas like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Web Development and PEGA etc. And our faculty members are always there to guide and assist students with respect to IoT and Core Engineering best practices and benefits and also for Smart India Hackathon and other national and international level competitions.
