Dr. Satya Prakash Sahu​ is currently working as Head of the Department: Information Technology at NIT Raipur, Chattisgarh. Having more than 15 years of teaching and research experience, he is an active member of International and National Professional Societies such as IEEE, Computer Society of India (CSI) and Institution of Engineers India (IEI). Along with organizing several national level Short-Term Training Programs, workshops, and expert lectures in the various domains like AI, Programming Languages, Machine Learning, Data Science, Image Processing, etc., he has guided more than 20 PG dissertation works and 6 PhD scholars as well.

What is your philosophy of leadership as the Head of Department?

“Enhanced synchronization and good principles”

The leadership must contain better coordination and cooperation among the peer groups as well as in different levels of organization. People follow the leaders on the basis of their moral conduct and responsiveness. Hence, if you wish that everyone in your department shows the moral responsibilities for the betterment of the section then you should always maintain a good code of conduct, discipline, integrity, punctuality and dedication. 

How is your experience so far in the education industry?

“Challenging and interesting at the same time”

Teaching and learning simultaneously go on in the entire career. The experiences in the academic industry have been amazing till now. I have learned a lot and gained the insights of various interested domains in engineering and related technical fields. Being an academician in the institute of national importance is always challenging, because students are highly qualified and curious to know every concept related to subjects. 

Any insights on how Artificial Intelligence is a subject for future?

“The science and engineering of making intelligent computer programs”

The advancements in AI have potential to transform, not only the field of computer science, but can lead to technological changes in every field and its applications. The AI can now be integrated with numerous fields of information processing, complex gaming, psychology, perceptual tasks, linguistics and natural language processing, mathematics, philosophy, reasoning, robotics, and expert tasks such as scientific analysis, weather forecasting, chemical synthesis, and medical diagnosis.

What are the benefits and career options after pursuing the course?

“Advanced automation applications and related fields of AI”

The recent tools and techniques such as advanced version of search optimization, deep learning networks, and the other state-of-the-art methods have shown the way of complex decision making processes and applications in many fields, including understanding human speech, strategic game playing, self- driving cars, military or autonomous robots, smart surveillance system, intelligent and smart routing scheme in content delivery networks, etc. There are several placement opportunities for the students of Information Technology in several MNCs such as Wipro, Infosys, IBM, Cognizant, Adobe, Samsung, Amazon, CA Technologies, etc.

What is your special teaching methodology? 

“Active participation and prioritizing weak students”

Teaching will be more interactive when students are actively involved and attentive during the class; hence the best way is that the lecture should begin with its significance of a particular subject or its role in the chosen field. The prerequisite subjects must be recapped during the introduction class. Real time examples/case studies should always be presented during the lecture session for describing the theoretical concepts. For weaker section students, special/remedial classes are conducted. For them, simple teaching mode is adopted, which starts with fundamentals and easier examples with their demonstrations are presented for better understanding.

Any suggestions that you would like to give to the current youth?

“Hard work, consistency and ethical values”

Believe in yourself and your hard work. Hard work is never wasted. Sometimes, the success may be delayed, but surely it will be yours in the upcoming moments. So have trust and faith in your morals and good values. Be consistent in your approaches and never give up.
