Bhubaneswar: Indian sprinter, double silver medallist in Asian Game 2018 and KIIT student Dutee Chand was felicitated by Prof. Ganeshi Lal, His Excellency the Governor of Odisha on behalf of the people of the State at a Felicitation Ceremony held at Hotel Mayfair on 3rd September 2018. Felicitating Dutee Prof. Lal said strong willpower and determination bring success to anybody. Dutee has got the success due to her willpower, determination, and hard labor. Advising Dutee Prof. Lal said, you should not jealous and imitate to anybody. Presiding over the program, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said, today Dutee has got these achievements due to her strong determination and hard labor. “She had to struggle hard from her childhood as she is from a very poor family, but she never lost sight of her goal. I am sure in the coming Olympics, she will bring a medal for India”, he added.

In her remarks, Dutee said, “I got this success due to all of your love affection and good wishes. The success is not only of mine, but credit for it also goes to the people of Odisha. I had struggled from my childhood to get this success. In my life, I have seen many ups and downs, but I never gave up my goal. Dr. Achyuta Samanta has always stood behind me and inspired me to achieve my goal. Dr. Samanta was with me in a most painful period of my life. At that time, he guided me in every moment not to lose hope and courage.”

Expressing gratitude to Govt. of India and Govt. of Odisha for their support and cooperation, she said, “I am personally very much thankful to our Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik for his support to sports and sportspersons. Odisha is the only state to give the highest cash award of Rs.3 crore to an athlete. I thank all my well wishers and people of Odisha”.
