KIITKIIT Deemed University has made an impressive debut in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2019. These rankings are regarded as one of the most prestigious – were published on September 26, 2018.

Responding to a request by Doordarshan (DD) employees' association, KIIT and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar have extended a helping hand to the family of Achyuta Nanda Sahu, DD Cameraman who was killed in a Naxal ambush in Dantewada’s Nilawaya forest area on October 30, 2018. He is survived by his wife and daughter. DD employees' association had requested Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS to provide assistance to the family. Prof. Samanta immediately announced to provide job to the widow of the martyred video journalist along with all possible assistance to the family.   

Achyuta Nanda Sahu, who belonged to Bolangir district of Odisha, never shied away from challenging assignments. He took up assignments in strife-torn areas, including J&K, Northeast, border areas and disaster-hit regions. He was part of a DD Team in Dantewada for pre-election coverage of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections. Prof. Samanta decided to help the family of the deceased. He saluted the courage of Achyuta Nanda Sahu and condemned the Maoist attack on police and media persons. Two police persons also lost their lives in the ambush.
