You have held key positions at education institutes throughout your professional career. What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?

"My commitment to the profession and the mission kept me connected with the education sector"

I was born and brought up in a lower middle class, rural and agricultural background. When I have taken up the profession of teaching in Technical Education I have realized that teaching in technical institution is not only a gracious profession but also a noble mission – the mission is to facilitate technology change the face of rural India. My commitment to the profession and the mission kept me connected with the education sector.

Being the Principal of KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES what is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?

"The idea of working for empowering of self and others is quite refreshing and inspiring"

As the Principal of KKR & KSR Institute of Technology and Science, Guntur I always think I'm a leader of my team, not a boss and so I enjoy my work. I believe in inspiring work rather than dictating it.

I take care that every teacher and non-teacher employee of this institute feel they are working for a noble cause of empowering the next generation. The idea of working for empowering of self and others is quite refreshing and inspiring.

As the founder principal of this institute I set myself as an example in valuing work culture and creating a friendly atmosphere of mutual cooperation. I built various teams to look after various functions like imparting job skills, maintaining discipline, promoting work culture, encouraging research etc.,

Being the Principal of KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES, how do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your school?

"We showcase our achievements through appropriate channels of print, electronic and web media"

Marketing of an educational institution means creating a brand image for the institute that goes synonymous with quality education, continuous enhancement of knowledge and skills of faculty, imparting job skills, securing jobs for the students and inspiring entrepreneurship. Besides creating such a brand image we showcase our achievements through appropriate channels of print, electronic and web media.

The education systems in India and other foreign countries are structured very differently. In your experience, what can an inbound student gain from studying here in your university?

"We at our institution attach importance to study of a subject for knowledge"

Yes, there is an important distinction between present Indian education and that of the west and the far east. Study of a subject out of love for it gives in depth understanding of the subject and inspires research into it, newer interpretations of the concepts, application of knowledge to problem solving etc., On the other hand, when you study a subject for the sake of clearing the exam your focus will be exam orientation which is of no further use.

We at our institution attach importance to study of a subject for knowledge, its application, its newer interpretations and creativity.

How does the curriculum of KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES ensure the best practice of industry?

"We conduct workshops and seminars and our students actively engage in consultations with experts from industries and academics"

Since we are affiliated to JNTU Kakinada we follow the university prescribed curriculum. And as an Autonomous Institute we include add-ons where and when necessary. We encourage our faculty and students to appear for certifications from reputed institutions and companies. We impart training in industry required technologies and ensure that our students are job ready. We conduct workshops and seminars and our students actively engage in consultations with experts from industries and academics.

Any insights into how your university could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"Our campus is ragging free and students of every minority group are very well seamlessly integrated into the main stream of learning processes"

Our institute is situated in a rural environment and our intake is mostly from rural and semi urban backgrounds. Our students come mostly from upper middle class, middle class and poor economic classes. Their commitment levels are astonishing and praiseworthy.

When students from different races join us we ensure that their unique culture and practices are valued during their stay and learning in our campus.

We welcome students of all races and all ethnic backgrounds. Our campus is ragging free and students of every minority group are very well seamlessly integrated into the main stream of learning processes.

What do you think your roles and responsibilities to the University and the students are?

"I always consider it's my prime responsibility to inspire creative and productive work"

As mentioned earlier as the principal I would like to play a pro-active role in the growth of the institution - growth of every stakeholder of the institute - the students, the faculty, the society and the nation as a whole. I always consider it's my prime responsibility to inspire creative and productive work from everyone on the campus. I would like my students to see me as their friend, philosopher and guide.

What do you think should be the Institute’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"The management of the institution leaves no stone unturned in reaching out the set goals of the institution"

Our priority will be to implement the policies envisioned in the New Education Policy, provide opportunities for research, growth, employment, wealth creation, holistic learning and thereby contributing to the nation building.

There is need for focus on application of technology to address issues of agriculture and rural development to marginalize the difference between the basic infrastructures in the urban and rural lives.

The management of the institution leaves no stone unturned in reaching out the set goals of the institution, say whether it is establishing laboratories, libraries, research facilities, imparting training programs, conducting workshops, seminars, tech fests etc.,

When you first came to KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES, what was your vision for the university? Has it evolved over time, and how far along in implementing that vision are you?

When our Institute was established in the year 2008 it was one among about 50 new engineering colleges in Guntur district. Since then, the growth has been phenomenal. We are among the top 3 institutions now.

We would like to see our institution carve out a pride place in the map of the premier institutions of this nation.

What would you like people to know about your university they may not know?

"Our management is committed to providing all infrastructural and human resource support to accomplish excellence"

We would like people to know that our Institute is the right place for every serious learner of technology and that our Institution helps students in application of basic sciences and that ours is a serene campus that is conducive to learning. Our management is committed to providing all infrastructural and human resource support to accomplish excellence.

What do you see as KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES greatest strengths?

Our greatest strengths are our self-motivated and committed faculty, pro-active management, implementation of novel methods of orientation, ragging free environment and supporting counselling staff.

What are some of the biggest challenges you see, both for higher education in general and for KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES specifically?

"We need to think and focus in terms of problem solving"

We need to transform our technical education from theory centric to practice oriented. Our faculty have been brought up and educated in teacher centric education systems and they mostly got struck there. They need to see that it is student oriented system today.

Our research and awarding systems are also mostly obsolete. We need to think and focus in terms of problem solving, growth, wealth creation and service provisioning.

These are the challenges the higher education institutions are facing today and they are more or less the same with our institution as well.

Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?

There is need for a paradigm shift in the way the youth of our nation think today. Most of our youth are being inspired by celebrities. If they get inspired by people working for the nation building in practice that will be an excellent supposition. We have to work hard on several fronts to channelize the energies of our youth into safe, creative and productive avenues.

What are some plans that you’re currently (or will be) designing for KKR & KSR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCES international affairs and/or students?

India is known for its philosophy and spiritual knowledge. In recent times there have been all out efforts from leaders of education and theology to relate Indian theology to science, scientific temper and technology. To draw attention of the international student community we have to design academic courses which are unique and yet applicable to solving the life problems of our planet. Of course, we Indians have been the most tolerable people and it has been our culture not only to acknowledge diversity but also to accept it. So we will not have any problem in creating environments that are conducive for foreign students to pursue education here in our Educational Institutions.

However, our Institution is an affiliated college with autonomous status and are guided by the regulatory bodies. We have to function within the given guidelines in designing any plans that cater to the foreign students.

When we go for Deemed to be University status we shall consider designing plans that cater to the foreign students.

How do you tend to establish a healthy relation and environment in your institute/ university?

Creating and sustaining a healthy relation and environment in any institution is critical to its all-round growth. We would like to imbibe work culture, promote dignity of labour, and ensure humane and friendly relationships among all the stake holders.

We also would like to strengthen our top down and bottom up feedback mechanisms to be always on spot and up to date in resolving issues and thereby democratizing the functionality.
