Yes, NMIMS, Mumbai is an excellent option for an MBA. Due to the locational advantage, it offers good placements and exposure. Huge list of companies visit the campus placement each year. NMIMS Mumbai placements highlights for 2022, show an average CTC of INR 19 LPA.

NMIMS Mumbai focuses a lot on academics outside of traditional classroom teaching. Their approach to academics is unique. You will learn through Bloomberg labs, the WeCare internship program, an unparalleled repository of e-journals and market data.

The only drawback for the institute is its huge batch size. This results in a dip in placements.

BSc. Economics, SVKM's NMIMS (2021)

Yes, NMIMS is definitely a good college for pursuing an MBA. Here is an objective view of NMIMS.

  • Located in Mumbai, NMIMS definitely offers a locational advantage. Due to its favorable location, it attracts a huge list of recruiting companies.
  • NMIMS MBA Placements - For the 2022 placement, the highest CTC offered by the institute yet is INR 19.5 LPA.
  • NMIMS puts lots of focus on off-the-book learning through their unique pedagogy, Bloomberg labs, WeCare internship program, an unparalleled repository of market data, and e-journals.
  • The college boasts of steller infrastructure. It has world-class lecture halls and good IT facilities.
  • Leveraging its location and reputation, NMIMS attracts great faculties.
  • The huge batch strength of around 600 is a point of disadvantage for the institute. The batch size causes difficulty during placements. But the institute is trying to remedy the situation.
  • The MBA program offered by NMIMS is quite expensive. Currently, the MBA program costs INR 21.90 lakhs. The cost of living in Mumbai is high as well.
  • The hostel accommodation is limited. Around 90% of students stay outside the campus. Traveling to and from the college and lass peer interaction causes a bit of an ordeal for the students.

Along with these factors, you should consider your profile, your current calls, and your potential calls, before finalizing on your MBA college.

Studies MBA in Finance at IIM Ahmedabad (2019 - 2022)

One of my friends is part of NMIMS and says that the college is unfortunately not the best. Because he can describe his opinions better, here is what he has to say about both the positive and negative aspects of the institute,

Pros:

  1. The institute has good classrooms and a library.
  2. Being situated in Mumbai, it has great industrial tie-ups and linkages.
  3. Some of the professors at NMIMS are brilliant in their pedagogy, while most of them are not.
  4. The studies are primarily case-based. However, the case studies are from the old bundle.
  5. The canteen is good and provides decent food.
  6. Students can participate in different competitions and earn handsomely, or they can also obtain PPI.

Cons:

  1. It is highly expensive and can take up to about 23 lakhs.
  2. Students cannot avail hostel facilities. They only have about 15% of the students devoid of any amenities.
  3. Most of the faculty members are unfortunately not greatly concerned about the students.
  4. The placements of the institute are not up to the mark.
  5. A batch has over 600 students, somewhat indicating a reduced prioritization of the quality of education and brand.
  6. You cannot avail sports facilities. Additionally, there are no regular classes for 2nd year students.

Here are the latest placement stats of NMIMS,

Criteria

Stats or Salary Package (LPA)

No. of Visiting Recruiters

Highest Salary Package

INR 30.37 LPA for MBA

INR 17.97 LPA for MBA-HR

Average Salary Package

INR. 17.97 LPA (approx.)

Placement Percentage

100%

The reason behind this is that the administration is unaware of the issues students face. It also has a very easy entrance exam to crack. In a nutshell, if you are planning to take a loan to study for an MBA, then this might not be the best option.
