According to the 2021 placement report, here is the average salary package received by NMIMS students.

NMIMS Mumbai Average Package:

Average CTC  INR 18.45 LPA
CTC for top 50 students INR 25.16 LPA
CTC for top 100 students INR 22.89 LPA
CTC for top 150 students  INR 21.55 LPA
CTC for top 200 students  INR 20.16 LPA

You should note that average salary is not the right measure of placements. There are students who get placement packages above INR 25 LPA. There are also students who get packages around INR 8-9 LPA. The right measure of placements is the median salary which isn’t usually mentioned explicitly often. But if you are aiming to secure a salary package above INR 16 LPA, you can certainly get it with strategic preparation.

The average salary package is INR 17.97 LPA. There is a big difference between CTC and in-hand take-home salary. So if your question was related to 16 Lakhs CTC then it’s a definite yes but if your question was related to in-hand salary then it’s a no.

The in-hand salary, CTC numbers, and placements depend a lot on the below-mentioned factors:-

  • PPI/PPO/Executive placements: The majority of the top 150–200 students are placed through PPO/PPI from summer internships. The average CTC offered to them is typically 25% higher than the average CTC offered to the entire batch.
  • The sector of the company: It also depends on where you get the job, i.e., either core or non-core companies. Core companies in each sector, whether FMCG/FMCD/Retail/BFSI/Consulting/Analytics/IT/E-commerce/Others, offer higher CTCs for the same role as non-core companies in each sector.
  • Start-ups vs. Established Companies: Most start-ups in each sector will offer higher compensation than established organizations for the same role. This is due to the fact that start-ups grow at a much faster rate than established organizations. Their top-line and bottom-line goals are different.
  • CTC/Payroll Components: CTC is typically made up of Gross Salary + PF + Gratuity + Stock Options + Allowances/Perks. Depending on the percentage breakdown of each of the components, it is very possible that the in-hand salary for someone offered 25 LPA CTC and for someone offered 40 LPA CTC.

It is recommended that you look not only at placement reports by salary figures for directional numbers but also at the number of companies visiting the campus for each sector and the profiles offered. The CTC figures on placement reports are slightly inflated for all B-Schools except those that publish audited placement reports.
