A Ph.D. from IIT Mandi is certainly not a time pass. You need to put consistent efforts to keep up with the coursework. IIT Mandi follows a demanding curriculum. Ph.D. students need to maintain a CGPA of 7.5 out of 10. Students need to publish 2 reputed journal papers and various conference papers. They also need to deliver research seminars, It is anything but easy.

IIT Mandi has an excellent faculty base. Most faculty members are alumni of old IITs or universities abroad. So, they expect older IIT-level performance from Ph.D. students.

IITs are one of the best institutions of our country and one of the finest brains can be found at IITs. To complete Ph.D., you will have to face many challenges right from the day of getting enrolled. The minimum CGPA to take admission in Ph.D. at an IIT is around 7.5/10.

Right after taking admission to the Ph.D. program, you will have to go through the coursework. A comprehensive examination is conducted after the coursework ends in which your Ph.D. and bachelor's knowledge is tested. There are two attempts given to a student to clear the exam and if one fails in both the attempts, they can’t continue with the course.

And after passing the exams, the research phase begins where you are expected to have at least 2 reputed journal papers. You will be assessed by the Doctoral committee including HOD and professors. You must be good at writing and should have great communication skills so that you can present your research work in a nice and understandable manner.

Doing a Ph.D. at IIT Mandi is difficult and needs a lot of effort. If you fail to keep up with the mark, it may take you even 5 years to complete the course.
