Can I get NIT Goa with a 97 score?

ST

Studied at the National Institute of Technology, Goa

Admission to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa is highly competitive and is based on a candidate's performance in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main. The JEE Main exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and is held twice a year.

The admission process at NIT Goa is based on a candidate's JEE Main score and rank in the JEE Main exam. The JEE Main score is calculated based on a candidate's performance in the entrance exam and their marks in their 12th board exams in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). This is a mandatory requirement for admission to any NIT.

It is difficult to predict whether a score of 97 in JEE Main will be sufficient to secure admission to NIT Goa. The cutoff for NIT Goa varies each year based on factors such as the number of candidates who have applied, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats. Typically, a percentile of 97-98 or higher is required to have a good chance of securing admission to an NIT.

It's important to note that admission to NITs is highly competitive, and candidates need to perform exceptionally well in the JEE Main exam to secure a seat. In addition to a high score, candidates must also meet the eligibility criteria set by the institute and provide all required documentation as part of the admission process.

What should I prefer for a CS, NIT Goa, VJTI Mumbai, or COEP Pune?

RG
Rupam Ghose Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
Studied Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute

NIT Goa, VJTI Mumbai, and COEP Mumbai are well-known engineering colleges. The choice depends upon you. The following are the points to be considered.

  • If you are Mumbai-based, VJTI is the best choice. The college has played a crucial role in setting up IITs and RECs in India. It has a decent infrastructure.
  • If you are Pune-based, COEP is the best choice. It has the best infrastructure with a big campus and excellent placements.
  • If you want to have an NIT tag under your belt NIT Goa is the best choice.

All these colleges are at a similar level. So, you should choose according to your convenience. If you don’t live at any of these locations then your preference order should be COEP/ VJTI > NIT Goa. VJIT has a great placement record. The average CTC offered by the institute is 7 LPA.

How much should I score to get CSE in NIT Goa? I belong to the general EWS category, outside Goa, and am a girl.

ST

The cutoff scores for admission to the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program at NIT Goa vary from year to year and depend on several factors, such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats in the program.

However, based on previous year trends, you would need to score a rank under 7000 in the JEE Main exam to have a good chance of getting admission to the CSE program at NIT Goa. It's important to note that this is just an estimate, and the cutoff may vary from year to year.

Additionally, being a female candidate in an EWS category, outside Goa, you may be eligible for certain relaxation in the cutoff score or additional seats under the reservation quota. It's best to check the official website of NIT Goa or contact their admissions office for more information on the specific admission criteria and cutoff scores.

I have a choice between IT (information technology) in NIT, Surathkal and CS (computer science) in NIT Goa. Which one would be a better choice in terms of placements, brand name, etc.?

NIT Surathkal IT is the better choice. It is among the best NIT in the country and offers great academics, placements, and facilities to students. There is not much difference between the course curriculum of CSE and IT. Almost all companies open for CSE at NIT K are also open for IT students. According to the highlights of NIT Surathkal placements, students of IT get an average CTC of around INR 10 LPA. The placement rate for the branch is around 95-100%.

How is NIT Goa as compared to other NIT's?

AP
Anubrata Pandey Posted On : August 23rd, 2021
Computer Science Engineering (CSE) at NIT Rourkela (2021)

It depends on which NIT you are comparing it to. NIT Goa is a tier-3 NIT and is still on its way to exhibit its credibility, except for the name received from the government. This is possibly the only resemblance it has with other top-tier NITs.

NIT Goa can reasonably be ranked alongside other bottom quartile NITs, including the ones situated in North-Eastern India (except NIT Silchar) and other NITs located at Puducherry and other similar places. All these NITs are struggling to prove their values as of now.

NIT Goa can be more preferable to NIT Puducherry. One of the major reasons is because NIT Goa comes with better exposure since it has a leading locational advantage. Several top-tier companies are in close proximity to the institute.

Here is a brief placement record of both institutes.

Institutes NIT, Goa NIT, Puducherry
Placement Percentage More Than 90% 80% (in an Approximate)
Highest Salary Package INR 20 LPA INR 15.25 LPA
Average Salary Package INR 7.35 LPA INR 4.9 LPA
Top Recruiting Companies Goldman Sachs, Samsung, Siemens, TCS, Infosys, Mphasis Samsung, IBM, Infotech, Tech Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro

It’s better to choose NIT Goa since you will have better placement opportunities at the institute.

Can I get NIT Goa with OBC rank around 11000?

ST
Shantanu Trivedi Posted On : March 16th, 2023
Studied at the National Institute of Technology, Goa

It's difficult to predict your chances of getting admission to the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa with an OBC rank around 11,000 as the cutoff for admission to the institute varies each year and depends on several factors, including the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats in each program.

However, based on the previous year's cutoff trends, it is unlikely that you will be able to get admission to NIT Goa with an OBC rank around 11,000. Typically, candidates who secure a rank within 5,000 have a higher chance of securing a seat in the institute.

It's important to note that meeting the cutoff score is only one of the eligibility criteria for admission to NIT Goa. The institute considers other factors such as the candidate's academic performance, the number of applicants for a program, and the reservation policies, among others, for final admission decisions.

You can check the official website of NIT Goa to get the previous year's cutoff scores for the OBC category and get an idea of your chances of admission. Additionally, you can also keep an eye on the institute's admission notifications and cutoff scores to stay updated on the admission process.
